Its so nostalgic to see the part where they draw on the foot.😋 My Mom took classes (in the early 90s) when me & my brother were about 8-10yrs old (cuz my Dad left us). She needed a good job to support the big house with 2 mortgages he left us with, so she went to additional schooling at night for 2 yrs to get her Massage Therapist certification. I'm still proud of her beyond belief, to this day, for that. To get to my point, she used to draw on us w washable markers to help her learn the diff muscles, etc. I actually learned a lot from that as well. 🥰

My mom was very into this and studied it extensively; even got a certificate in it. She use to practice it on my sister and I growing up. I've forgotten a lot so I really enjoy this refresher. I have noted over the years that if I have an issue or change in my organs, say menstrual cycle for example, the corresponding reflex point will ache or tingle. It is quite fascinating. 🙂

Reflexology is such a wonderful therapy isn't it! Such facinating & clever stuff, even the Egyptians did it! I totally love it & have been using it professionally since 2003. I find having a range of skills in my therapeutic tool box really helpful as different clients do benefit from different treatments. From a business income point of view I'd say about a 3rd of my clients have it. And I use it quite a lot in combination with massage within a session. Here's to 'Happy Feet' & healthy bodies :)

Not really educational if it's pseudoscience. The best this foot massage can do is reduce stress which is very good at improving general health. Reflexology is not recommended medical treatment for literally any actual health condition that requires medical assistance. If you have an issue, please see a doctor and get checked out, don't get a foot massage.

Lovely overview! I grew up exchanging back and foot massage with my mom, as part of a family tradition! She's had polio in the 20s, and needed stiff shoes with a 3/4" heel, and those exchanges really helped. My first massage related class was several weeks on reflexology, and my massage mentor in 1983 had also had polio, and studied reflexology, including tips from that in our sessions. My ballet teacher was very aware of her body, and her comments on what she felt aligned with the charts! I recept saw a clip begin a Chinese Qigong master, recommending massaging the great toe, especially if calloused, to help prevent dementia, and i immediately thought of the head reflex points!

Some can be quite brisk and it's not relaxing though the good to your body is still being done. My reflexologist is lovely - going to see her this afternoon - my fourth visit in two months. Now I know what to look for when going for a foot massage 💆♂️ it must be true or real foot reflexology! I learned so much thanks Merie. I have a frozen shoulder bursitis for about 5 months now and I can’t do much exercises or massage my left arm bc of it. This gives me an idea 💡 to have a real reflexology foot massage ❤️

I have such a hard time accepting that this is a valid science. And studies agree. It decreases stress and promotes relaxation and that's it. I think people believe the claims made by practitioners because it's convenient and they want to believe something like having a foot massage can effect specific parts of the body. Just because it's been around for a long time and people follow it, doesn't make it real. It's all wishful thinking.
@mobileasmr6448 Жыл бұрын
And thats why they never respond. It's all pseudoscience designed to take your money.

Why are you even bothering to be clicking on it in the first place? Is it just to go directly to the comments because that's the type of way it's always been the way? For you like misery seeking out company to help feed itself on and then be fed on and perpetuate madness.. simply because of the fear you have? The fear that causes someone to talk s*** and to come off all bully like in a place where why are you even in this channel if you don't have anything at all other than resistance and and to be rejecting it and making sure that at least you form your verbiage for everyone as some sort of gift I imagine? I got I get how that closed mind s***works or quite obviously doesn't work because hey it's not just one of us on this planet ever it will never be what's real is measured by the number of of which is inconceivable to even when speaking of such things that include a very much larger than large big picture. And if this specifically wasn't stated that that's not what picture view is... Then why would you even click on the? To spread cheer and joy amongst those you give entitlement to give a s*** about your s*** especially whenin a passive aggressive way is the only way that you'll bully and seek out misery more misery to help keep you company so you don't have to feel like you know what you need to know that you as well as giving in to allowing yourself to celebrate your strength and your accomplishments and just being all that is in existence. In other words lies themselves what a lie is it absolutely is not true by definition however they still absolutely exist and therefore are also part of the true compartment if things need to be compartmentalized for you. So basically, why not just go to where you know that commonality is that you resonate with and leave others alone unless you know how to have manners and just keep it real and use nice cuz the nicest nice it's real simple it doesn't take much takes very little coz a little bit does really go a long long long long way longer. This is a short distance, if you understand what I'm saying. I mean it in the nicest possible way at this point that it felt.very moment when everything kind of clicks and it might be a real good idea to pull the reins in because there's no need to jump into guilt Trip in yourself or adding more on to it because you were wrong or not wrong but well just quite frankly being a douche. A bully.

So if we press the foot randomly - giving it a massage - we will eventually activate all these reflexes? Who came up with this, and how do you prove it?
@MassageTherapeutics9152 жыл бұрын
At the beginning of the video I give a brief explanation of the history of reflexology. It’s a 5,000 year old practice from China. Massaging the feet stimulates the reflexes to the body.
@balluse2 жыл бұрын
@@MassageTherapeutics915 But how would one prove it? The reflexes to specific organs, it seems like that would be difficult to prove, or even observe the effect at all. If I presented two groups of 100 patients each, and one group had been given a general massage, and the other had received reflexology - would anyone be able to tell the difference?
@MassageTherapeutics9152 жыл бұрын
@@balluse I don’t know if there are any studies here in the USA to prove or disprove. You need a hypothesis, a control group and a prediction based on the hypothesis. If there’s one thing I learned when I took statistics at the university is that Data, Statistics can always be manipulated to affect the outcome. I’m not a scientist so my job is not to prove or disprove anything. I’m just presenting information. I’m sure in China they have done studies. Maybe you can research that & let us know.
@balluse2 жыл бұрын
@@MassageTherapeutics915 Well, I'm not the one claiming that this works. You are, no? So, the one claiming it works should have the science to back it up - to "present information" is to say "this is information I deem trustworthy, and here's why". Your "why" is probably "my gut feeling says it works".
@ijirving2 жыл бұрын
There's nothing to prove. It's a massage technique at the end of the day. There's nothing connecting the organs to the parts of the feet indicated if that's what you're asking. Nothing about this is based in science, it's based on tradition. There may be a placebo effect if the person receiving treatment is aware of the background of the technique.
