People of Scotland..... This will be our last and final chance to be that nation again. Please vote YES for Scottish Independence ! Save our culture ! Save our identity ! God Save Scotland !

@MegaMadbiker Yeah. Because dying is such a desirable idea in the first place. Let the armies of the world march into a playground and settle their differences over drumming competitions, THAT would be a much more pleasant way of war, I'd even think about attending.

ok, Quick info session. a goodly portion of folks who's families came from the Northern United States, are in some way related to Scots. It isn't an argue thing, it just is so. A good portion of Canadiens are even more related to scots in their family lines. I am 100 % Scot. I am Talon MacDonald, My Father was Ian Thomas MacDonald, and my Grandfather was Angus Thomas MacDonald. and Best part of all.. Pipes are Not from Scotland or Eire, they came from Turkey, during the crusades

I've posted this elsewhere....it still remains true....America is the greatest country God has blessed man with, but America would be nothing without Scots. For example, look at the Declaration of Independence and tell me it wasn't at least partially born of the Declaration of Arbroath. America is alot more than Scotland to be true, but to deny Scotland as one of the key influences on the creation of our nation is foolish. Alba du grath!

I was at at the 2003 Tattoo when the Blackwatch came in led by Brian Alexander, they were in their combat dress just home from Iraq, there was a few gaps in the ranks, a sorry sight, but they came into a heroes welcome, the hairs all over my body were poker straight. The senior pipe major of the british army then did a rendition of 'sleep dearie, sleep' from the castle battlements, he was Blackwatch, check that out. The massed PnD are awesome.

Very good. Can't beat the pipes and drums!!! As for "here we are and we are comming to get you!", that's one reason the brits lost the Battle of New Orleans. The noise gave the advancing regiments' positions away in the fog, plus the Rodriguez Canal and USA entrenhments blocked there way and the USA Arty. played havoc in the advancing ranks of foes. Some Americans cried at the slaughter.

the honour and pride to love everything about ones country scotland the only country in the world those culture is known and played throughout the world and of the great inventors that made this world what it is today
@DeGuillac11 жыл бұрын
True; but they still march to battle, often enough, and the pipes are good for that. And there are moments -- the Commandos attacked on D-Day led by Lord Lovat's personal piper (unarmed, as traditionally); and when Colonel "Mad Mitch" Mitchell led his men into Yemen to rescue hostages he led the advance with pipes -- successfully..

@LucidDream101 No you are American, you aren't Scottish, welsh, Irish, nor English. if you were born in America you are ...sadly American. Be proud of being American embrace your own culture, you know American culture like real Americans.....the ones you stole the land off. By the way in the UK those that have coats of arms......we don't mention it.

ts a riot .. Each video posed in KZbin brings out the little wolf in so many people. You all have to argue about whatever you see. I am more Scot than You are, or this person or that person shouldn't be saying what ever he or she said.

@scoutquinn what are you saying? i'm celtic with several coat of arms to prove it. i'm a rare breed especially being in the US. you saying that being a yank doesn't mean i'm not irish/welsh/scottish? wtf are you trying to say man?!

@harrier01 I'm not sure about the other branches if the service, but in the RAF the half pace is called the slow march, most commonly used at the likes of funerals where a quick march would look out of place.
@spentacle14 жыл бұрын
@harrier01 I assume you mean the Slow March? Wiki it. : This is a ceremonial pace, used for funeral marches and when a unit's colours are marched out in front of the troops. The standard pace is 60 paces per minute.

Many have tried...and died in the attempt. In WW1, the Germans dubbed them "The ladies from Hell" because of their kilts...and their ferocity.

As a piper and performer I can say that the problem is that it is so rich and narrow a sound that broad audiences can't remain excited about it for more than a few minutes at a time. So these military presentations err toward leaving the audience wanting more. Once in Columbus OH in my prime I was hired to play a wedding reception where many Scots flew over from Glasgow. It was one of 2 times in my 60 yr life when I had free reign to pull out all the stops and present a full program.
