As an American, this whole process has been fascinating to watch. I've watched the funerals of our Presidents and other honored names in our history, but have never watched the succession of a sovereign before. And, I admit, I am kicking myself for not paying more attention to the succession in Japan. I could learn something there, too. Elisabeth II was the Queen for the whole world, or at least Western civilization. She was the stern but loving grandmother, a woman who has charmed generations of people. Even at the lows of her popularity [in my lifetime during the death Princess Diana], she still held a large piece of our hearts. Yes, even with those who were her political opponents from around the world. Rest in well-deserved peace, Elisabeth Windsor. You now go to your loving family, your beloved Phillip, and an entire kennel full of Corgies that miss their Mom. You stand relieved, Ma'am. We have the watch.

@@keithjones4427 As I understand it, it's about 70/30. The British online friends that I have are [Labour and Tory] somewhat vexed at HM's Government at the moment. And about half of those friends are 'republican' in sentiment anyway. And, of course, I have the privilege of looking at it all from the other side of the world... that grants more than a little perspective. When I was a young man, I served in the US Army in a cavalry regiment patrolling the Inter German Border. I had the luck to be in an exchange platoon with 15/19th 'Hussies' [as they called themselves]. Great guys and a real eye opener for 19-year-old me. While they could belt out the Pistol's 'God Save The Queen' with the best of them, you were taking your life in your hands if you insulted THEIR Queen in their presence. I watched three of them kick the crap out of a German punk-rocker at a bierkeller while I was there. PROTIP: don't insult somebody's head of government and then spit on them.

Carl, you have expressed perfectly the simple fact of our Queen. People cana and went in peace and war but she was the one caring, Christian and democratic (read mother in a real sense) to us all. Even to the United States. I have served for a short time in BRITANNIA and have land in Scotland. But my memories are of a beautiful and magnificent woman who managed while oft under file from the drones to combine reality diplomacy maternal instinct and common touch/humanity with just being a woman. She was streets ahead of almost everyone I knew during that time while I place HRH second. Why? He was an irascible sailor. So, brother, to add to you. Your Majesty. @@bluebellflora1622 i'm chiming in late... but I agree we will never see anything like this again in the future with respect to the monarchy and British state funerals. E2 devoted a lifetime of love and service to her people,, and with each passing decade the monarchy is indeed dying a slow death within itself through time and history. HMTQ was the last of the true family glue that held it all together, but after C2 is gone I highly doubt the Royal Family is bonded like they are today. Whatever William is left with will be a fraction of ceremony and formality vs the true queen that E2 was.

I’d just like to thank every single person around the world who has shared their love and admiration of our late HM The Queen. Here in the UK, we still feel lost and a bit adrift. I’m in my mid 60s so all I’ve ever known is The Queen’s steady guidance. I wasn’t fortunate enough to have grandparents, so HM was my surrogate grannie. Thank you so much for all your support and love. It honestly means so much to us all. 🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧🇺🇸

My friend. She was not just your Queen. She was the mother of so many lands. The greatest woman of the age. Now you have a King and certain low-lives who have evil afoot. But they shall never defame or disgrace her. Years ago I swore an oath of allegiance when I enlisted in THE RAN. No-one ever told me to rescind it.

Let me add a personal story. In 1954, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness visited Australia and were to attend a surf carnival at Manly Beach. It was a magnificent Australian summer day. The Royal couple arrived in a Land Rover and the carnival commenced. A journalist asked my parents if he could film me waving a small flag (I was five years old). They said yes, he shot the footage - and I ended up on the cutting room floor.

Thank you for sharing this lovely tribute with us in the USA 🇺🇸 too. I have never seen a more lovely, grand tribute. You all loved her. The young princess who became queen..and too, Princess Anne is remarkable..her staying by her mom's side as long as possible...love. dedication. God bless...and again thank you Brits.

Lol the Royal Navy escort who pulled the gun carriage are 'RATINGS ' there, not a regiment. Leave title to the army. Each salior in the Royal Navy, if there in junior rank, is referred to as a rating. Since the death of Queen Victoria, the Royal Navy have always pulled the ceremonial gun carriage on these big occasions.

Her Majesty was loved and hated... I was born in 1967... grew up my entire life with her as Queen... The deep respect not only because she was Queen but because she was 4 years older than my mother. My mum died the 20th of March 2022... My heart shattered... Losing even her Majesty left 2022 dim and grey...

Misty Covered Mountain was a personal favourite of both HM the Queen and HM the Queen Mother. Both had requested it to be played at their Funeral processions to the Cathedral. HM the Queen Mother asked for it to be played with “My Home” which is even more emotional (in my opinion). Do Have a search for it. Rest in peace their Majesties. God save the King. Our Queen was whatever she meant to those who admired her. To us British she was the nation`s grandmother who loved us and we loved her. To many outside she was somebody who used her charities to make the world a better place. You don`t have to be British to mourn her passing because she was a world citizen and belonged to us all.

Amazingling long day for all those involved.watched all unfold. Couldn't stop watching all ten days. The six sailors positioned Infront of the Queen's coffin are huge! They look to be a full head above the rest of the sailors. And when we look at the rest of the sailors they look to be all the same heights. What an honor it must be to be chosen.

They’re will probably be less crowd’s compared to when we did that procession for the Queen; there were 11 million mourners watching all 5 of us live, I won’t forget how insanely crowded my home St Julian’s was
