@@bluebellflora1622 i'm chiming in late... but I agree we will never see anything like this again in the future with respect to the monarchy and British state funerals. E2 devoted a lifetime of love and service to her people,, and with each passing decade the monarchy is indeed dying a slow death within itself through time and history. HMTQ was the last of the true family glue that held it all together, but after C2 is gone I highly doubt the Royal Family is bonded like they are today. As an American, this whole process has been fascinating to watch. I've watched the funerals of our Presidents and other honored names in our history, but have never watched the succession of a sovereign before. And, I admit, I am kicking myself for not paying more attention to the succession in Japan. I could learn something there, too. Elisabeth II was the Queen for the whole world, or at least Western civilization. She was the stern but loving grandmother, a woman who has charmed generations of people. Even at the lows of her popularity [in my lifetime during the death Princess Diana], she still held a large piece of our hearts. Yes, even with those who were her political opponents from around the world. Rest in well-deserved peace, Elisabeth Windsor. You now go to your loving family, your beloved Phillip, and an entire kennel full of Corgies that miss their Mom. You stand relieved, Ma'am. We have the watch.

And about half of those friends are 'republican' in sentiment anyway. And, of course, I have the privilege of looking at it all from the other side of the world... that grants more than a little perspective. When I was a young man, I served in the US Army in a cavalry regiment patrolling the Inter German Border. I had the luck to be in an exchange platoon with 15/19th 'Hussies' [as they called themselves]. Great guys and a real eye opener for 19-year-old me. While they could belt out the Pistol's 'God Save The Queen' with the best of them, you were taking your life in your hands if you insulted THEIR Queen in their presence. The "Mist covered mountains" is a beautiful Pipe tune. I'm always reminded of the poem by William Blake when I hear it. Piping down the valleys wild, Piping songs of peasant glee, On a cloud I saw a child, And he, laughing, said to me: 'Pipe a song about a lamb!' So I piped with merry cheer. 'Piper, pipe that song again;' So I piped: he wept to hear. 'Drop thy pipe, thy happy pipe; Sing thy songs of happy cheer!' So I sang the same again, While he wept with joy to hear. 'Piper, sit thee down and write In a book, that all may read.' So he vanished from my sight; And I plucked a hollow reed, And I made a rural pen, And I stain'd the water clear, And I wrote my happy songs Every child may joy to hear. from Fife in Scotland Slainte🏴

Everytime i hear bagpipes it makes me feel so sad. Im not even Scottish or Irish. Just seeing this makes me tear up. May the Queen rest in peace. After seeing these ceremonies. Made me hug my own mother and tell her i love her very much. How much I appreciate her. Our mothers and grandmothers are the glue to our families. Condolences and respects go out to the Royal family and their staff. God bless from the US.

I’d just like to thank every single person around the world who has shared their love and admiration of our late HM The Queen. Here in the UK, we still feel lost and a bit adrift. I’m in my mid 60s so all I’ve ever known is The Queen’s steady guidance. I wasn’t fortunate enough to have grandparents, so HM was my surrogate grannie. Thank you so much for all your support and love. It honestly means so much to us all. 🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧🇺🇸

My friend. She was not just your Queen. She was the mother of so many lands. The greatest woman of the age. Now you have a King and certain low-lives who have evil afoot. But they shall never defame or disgrace her. Years ago I swore an oath of allegiance when I enlisted in THE RAN. No-one ever told me to rescind it.

Let me add a personal story. In 1954, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness visited Australia and were to attend a surf carnival at Manly Beach. It was a magnificent Australian summer day. The Royal couple arrived in a Land Rover and the carnival commenced. A journalist asked my parents if he could film me waving a small flag (I was five years old). They said yes, he shot the footage - and I ended up on the cutting room floor.

The Revolutionary war was a civil war. It was Brit against Brit. It wasn't fought on the pretext of nationality or religion, it was fought in the name of political representation. Blood will always be thicker than water. The Anglosphere will always be one even if we do have our occasional disagreements.

As an Irishman I have to say that was magnificent. What a send off! Military precision and respect. That was everything that is 'good' about the UK. HM Queen Elizabeth's service to her country is priceless! King Charles has a hard act to follow but having watched him over the last few decades I believe that he is a good man. Trick is don't try and replicate what has come before. King Charles has the credentials to make his mark around the environment and climate.
