I'd say often, but not always. I couldn't bring myself to love "Chérubin" and neither could I bring myself to hear "Amadis" in its entirety. I don't even like "Manon" particularly, although this opera has some wonderful moments that I love.

A wonderful opera. I sang in the chorus of this in a production conducted by Delacotte and stage directed by Faggioni, one of the most beautiful productions ever. The only problem with the work was keeping oneself dissolving into tears every night...an effect which has not diminished with the years.

Per me una delle opere migliori di Massenet. E' la terza volta che guardo questa produzione e ancora mi colpisce l'alchimia perfetta di Ramey con Lafont: insieme erano due artisti divertenti oltreché bravissimi. Riesco anche a capire abbastanza bene il loro francese.💥🎶💯

Grande capolavoro della letteratura spagnola, ma patrimonio mondiale , il Don Quichotte di Miguel De Cervantes. Basta ricordare la meravigliosa biblioteca nella quale non poteva mancare Ludovico Ariosto e il suo Orlando Furioso. Non sempre dalle opere dei grandi scrittori escono capolavori musicali , spesso derivano da opere non secondarie, ma certo non capolavori. Jules Massenet è riuscito a creare un capolavoro, a cominciare dal balletto iniziale, balletto che non può mai mancare in un'opera francese e al quale si sono adattati anche musicisti italiani, quali Rossini, Bellini , Donizetti e Verdi. Personalmente sono rimasto particolarmente colpito dalla morte di Don Quichotte , "fantoccio grottesco" nell'opera , ma nell'interpretazione magistrale di Samuel Ramey grande e dal cuore immenso, per amore e fantasia. Il brano per introduttivo di violoncello è veramente uno spettacolo , anche per la grandezza del violoncellista. La morte , col pianto di Sancho Panza , un momento veramente emozionante, con la stella che scende dall'alto. Bellissima opera. Grazie a Pasionporlaopera.
