Massey Ferguson 175, MultiPower 6speed, Testing clutch pack

Looking for some info on massey fergusons multipower option???
As seen here, Clutch pack seams to function properly, the return springs seam healthy, and the stroke seams sufficient to lock the wet clutch pack,
Upon investigating We have found that the condition shown is actually considered normal operation

Yep , what the others have said . It’s working as it should . The clunking noise is the discs being pushed together inside the clutch pack. There is a ratchet drive on the lower lay shaft that only allows motion in one direction when in “high”. The most common fault is with the piston or slip rings on the input shaft which can wear and cause loss of oil pressure . I’m currently in the process of replacing the input housings and rings on the mf590 Also it’s good to test the multipower pump pressure before dismantling. There is a test port on the left side cover on our model. The system runs at about 275 psi (uk spec) Tidy looking machine by the way !

Steve Thanks for the info I have this machine back up and running and the MP does work like it should now My test port is on the PTO cover, left side of the rear housing I measured 325 psi I assume my machine was built/assembled in detroit Mi as Im in the USA

That is the way the multipower is suppose to work. It will ratchet in high and not let you back up. Leave it the way it is, you are good to go.

What is the multi power feature? What is the advantage?

Its an additional HI/LoW, shift on the fly, range selection for all 6 conventional gears in the transmission... Some people like it Some hate it
