Since I have the hood off anyway, I decided to move the hydraulic tank to a new less dumb location

@@jtsbarnngrill6873 They may have been thinking about head pressure to the pump inlet. That is the only benefit I can see with it being under the hood.

Glad you didn't go to a smaller tank. The more oil you have, the cooler the oil will run.
@stevehetrick2676Ай бұрын
Idea, if you can get some old fire hose, this works great to slip over hydraulic hoses to protect them from getting rubbed through. 👍 Use a little lube when sliding your hydraulic hose inside of a length of fire hose, it makes it easier going in 👍

Relocating the tank there would be convenient, the only worry is that the volume of oil can have enough head pressure to keep the pump fed since you eliminate some of the gravity advantage
@jtsbarnngrill6873Ай бұрын
I think it’ll be ok, the steering pump pulls from the transmission which is easily 16 inches below that pump

Great job, we never thought of relocating that tank back there when we had our 1805. The Guy before us that had it had cable operated levers on the right side of the seat to operate the remotes, a more natural location than on the dash. Thanks for the Videos, looking forward to part 2.

I believe that tank is that big cause it's needed if one is working that tractor out in the western plains hooking and unhooking those big foldout emplements they use in the wheat fields,unhooking and hooking can cause hydro capacity oil lost depending out their capabilities and lifting abilities on each foldout implement unit

You need one of those aluminum, folding steps to stand on, I've got a couple and they're hard to be without once you have them. If you have some old tire tubes you can use for isolated dampers cutting strips and installing it under the tank straps on that tank might keep you from scratching your head on vibration noise once you get her out in the field,,like. Now really,,what the hell is that noise coming from now!! Ha ha ha! It sounds different at different times. Depending on the gals of oil in the tank. !!! Hum mm !

Great idea JT! Like the way you are thinking would look ugly hanging of side of tractor. Are you going to clamp yours hose solid at pto hole so that when you turn it does not work back and forth on fittings on the tank don't loosen and leak? Think two pieces of angle iron would work as a clamp. Maybe wrap a piece of inner tube around hoses to help guard against damaging hoses at the clamp.

Up over the engine does seem to be a poor design feature. Much smarter location you came up with. I have some figuring to do at my home. My beautiful bride got a working, free dishwasher. Great place for the oil tank but are you not afraid the pump gets cavitation issues when it has to suck the oil all from behind, 3 feet lower than before and suck it thru the oil filter. Especially when its cold. Maybe you could reconnect the oil filter in the return line. Love your channel JT! Keep on going!
@jtsbarnngrill6873Ай бұрын
I’m not worried about it at all. The tank is only 6-8” lower than the pump. The filter is at tank level, and this pump is identical to the pump that runs the steering, which pulls fluid from the transfer case that is easily 12-15” lower than that pump.

Best place for the tank buddy but here's a little advice you need you some rudder to set the tank on so won't rub holes in it from vibration maybe cut you sidewall out of a old tire will work n before you put you're bands on it to strap it down use that old tube to go under your straps save from having holes in you're tank

@LynnKorte-ve4qfАй бұрын
I don't think I would add duals to that tractor ,those big wide single X2 if you add duals tires, you have just put a over spec load on those outer bearings , enormous amount of end bearing pressure on that outer bearing will cause failure and then it'll put metal particles thru out the whole tractors oil hydro system,,to the other bearings etc,,it's something to thing about for sure,,for me those big fat tires are more than enough end shalf pressure for those outer bearing specs,,what do you think,,? One has to think before acting esp on those older tractors ,,heck even the new ones
@jtsbarnngrill6873Ай бұрын
That one won’t get duals. Those 30.5 singles are plenty of footprint 😉
