Lance, had this exact same issue on my 1963 35 deluxe. I spent 2 evenings on it before the light bulbs went off. The cover is almost a 1/4" thick. Without the cover the bolts go in too farr and hit the gear. Of course you can't get the snap ring on with the plate on. Hard to see that on coming. Might be something unique to late MF 35's since you pulled shafts and gears out of a 35. Also the shaft on mine went out the back like yours. I had to split the gear box from the rear end. Used long guide bolts because I only had to separate it 2" to get the shaft back enough to get the gear to drop. Felt a bit foolish at the time. But, I'm just a rookie first time tractor owner. Makes me feel better when a pro hits something like that. Great work. I've learned so much here.

I dont reckon there is many mistakes I have missed over the years, lol. But as long as they are a learning experience we will all benefit I reckon.

I'm from Poland, I bought a ferguson fe 35, I replaced the shaft seals without splitting the rear, just after removing the lower shaft bearing, I took out the segra ring from the rack, screwed the screw into the shaft and using the inertial hammer, the shaft came out without any problems forward, the rack fell
@BundyBearsShed Жыл бұрын
Yes the early tractors you could do that, on the later they need the second split.

@@BundyBearsShed thanks for the answer i didn't know that's what it means that the later version has a different construction and it's time to unscrew the rear axle, which is a bull's eye with the purchase and I have a question about changing gears with the engine running and the clutch depressed I have the impression that the clutch has not been fully released I feel a slight resistance and you can hear grinding when changing gears is this normal for these tractors and I have one more request no one wants to write how much to burn standard gasoline per hour

Oh at the hours I've wasted on trying to figure out something that was wrong that ultimately I caused. Then I get in a rush trying to fix it and screw something else up. A one hour job turns into half a day. Great video yet again! What kind of laser cutter do you have for making gaskets and such?

At work here I have a little K40 CO2 and at home a 20w diode laser Ortur. I did a bit of a video on the Ortur a while back now. It goes well.

Dear Sir or Madam, what are the dimensions of the seals on the shafts and from which manufacturer did you install them
@BundyBearsShed Жыл бұрын
They are Sparex brand. Look at the www.queenslandtractorspares.com.au website and there is a catalog section with the full Massey Ferguson Sparex catalog there for free.
