Massey Ferguson MF35 Walkaround and Story-time.

We bought our 35x in 2000 and paid £1500 for it. At the time the local farmers said I had been ripped off but I wish I had bought several more back then. It has given great service and is still very original (lots of "Made in England" bits including the starter, dynamo reg. box, lift pump CAV pump etc.)

Hi john , i really enjoyed the video and its nice to have a good story behind it about how you acquired it for your father and rescued it back home after it was kind of abandoned , a few pointers of the differences between 35 and 35 x is the PTO lever is more like an hammer on the lever and the dynamo bracket is one complete bracket across the dynamo rather than one each end . thanks for sharing ...watching from the uk 🇬🇧

Your tractor was a row-crop tractor. Lifted through different front end and it would have had larger diameter rear wheels. The linkage is modified to be lower. Your guards have spacers to make them higher. The serial number would likely start with CNM C = clearance N = A3.152 engine M = dual clutch No ‘Y’ as there is no diff lock on you machine.

You’re tractor is a 35x which has a 3 cylinder Perkins engine. It also has replaced rear mudguards as the old one’s had three groves replacements have one. 🧐👍

Correct me if I,m wrong.I think 35x had a diff lock,this one doesn,t.The 35s could be either 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder,all 35x were 3 cylinder..

great Tractor, just want to let you know that the engine in these wasn't 35 hp it was 42hp, this was the first version of the Perkins 3 cylinder engine which was stamped as A 3 152, which was not direct injected, then they upgraded that engine and put a direct injected cylinder head on it and that is the one in the Massey Ferguson 135 and it is rated to 46 hp it is stamped as 'A D 152', the 'D' meaning direct injection, I think this second version of this engine is also in the Massey Ferguson 35X too, the same engine is also in the MF 148 but they put another fuel injector pump on it I think and it was rated as 49hp, so your tractor is 42 HP and not 35hp

I have a 35 with the Perkins motor. I had the 4cyl Standard model and the Perkins engine is SO much better.

Hello. As far as I know, there was not a VIN / Chassis number approach (as we know now, particularly with cars) to numbering these tractors back in those days. I can only offer what I have talked about in the video, which is a Serial number plate, which numbers the tractor as a whole unit; followed by the Casting Codes to major components of the machine.
