Thanks for sharing. As someone who has just done day two of their basic flight training (running along the ground controlling the wing and keeping it level), these videos enable me to see the end goal of what I hope to be doing within a year or two.

Thanx! I'll be very happy too. Throughout the nineties I lived in South Cal but at the time I was a skydiver not a hang glide pilot. I used to skydive at Perris Valley and Lake Elsinore, very near to WillsWing factory... but at the time I new nothing about hang gliding. Cheers 👋 👋

Ciao Massimo, nice video,tnx 4 sharing. Q: what's this bulky pouch in your harness belt?
@MassimoPugiDelta4 жыл бұрын
Thanx! Which harness are you referring about? Because these videos are from my six years of flying hang gliding and during this period I have used 3 WoodyValley harnesses: 1° was the Flex, 2° was Tenax-3 and my recent one is Tenax-4, so you should give me the time-frame of the video so that I will answer your question. Cheers
@MassimoPugiDelta4 жыл бұрын
... or if you are talking about the hang-loop where the harness clips into the glider: I made it in a very light material just to cover the carabiner (the clip) and the belt that hooks into it. It's just to cover the carabiner and make it little more aerodynamic... but it's mostly for looks, I don't think it does a lot, but every little thing helps to improve air resistace! 😀😀

Why did you have to throw your chute? Not clear in the video and I'm sure some of us would like to learn the easy way from the lesson you learned? Please explain???????
@MassimoPugiDelta4 жыл бұрын
Sure. First let me say that unfortunately my GoPro remote control got pressed during the cumuli suck so it went in "pause"... too bad the most interesting part was missing. Basically I was cruising beneath a Cumuli Street near base with below average ascending and my mistake was not keeping more on the edge rather than towards the center. Therefore when I suddenly got sucked into it well above 10 or 15ms I had nowhere to go but hold onto the barr and wait. When I punched the top-side of the cumuli I was basically vertical so as soon as I had started to gain control and fly away, a rotor hit my trailing edge and flipped me into a tumbling. I found myself upside down with a broken keel and speed barr yet fairly stable. As soon as I tried to get the hold of the downtubes, the glider had gone into a spin so I decided to pull the rescue parachute. Always keep near the edge of a Cumuli even though it seems calm, because it could ignite very strongly but at least near the edge you may have more chances to fly away from it. Hope it's clear enough... you're welcome to ask more. Cheers 👋 👋

@@MassimoPugiDelta Perfectly clear. Thank you for the explanation. I've heard of cloud suck and that you should always stay near the edge of clouds forming and otherwise. Makes total sense. So very glad your chute worked as needed brother. Thanks for sharing. I'll put that knowledge in my arsenal and use it always. Happy landings always friend. God Bless.

@@garrykennedy5484 Yeah! That's the reason why I posted the original video with explanation on 2017. I realized that regardless of flying a very fast wing, when you get sucked at +12 or more m/s you cannot get away because that fast wind is not coming parallel to your wing but rather from beneath therefore your become a sail which goes vertical... pulling the speed-bar is just to keep the nose less vertical than it would be otherwise, but nothing doable to attempt a fly-away. Cheers 👋 👋
