The first guy was completely reasonable in sticking to his guns. There's comps and then there's comps with more nuance for rarer lower pop cards that don't get bought/sold that often. I've personally had Dylan reach out to me for cards he wanted and comps were thrown around, that I didn't want to play ball with. And I sold my cards just a little later for basically full asking. That $5 goes both ways. Why lose a hard to find PC card over $5? No one is bad guy here, so no need to bash the seller.

Bulba explained in the video how negotiations play out. He literally explained his tactics when he was trying to buy, and admitted that he does the same thing depending on margins, he's not being a hypocrite. Not sure if you missed the part where he says he does the same thing. Negotiating can get gritty, its not like Bulba is out here slamming that first seller, just negotiation tactics. Plus he is literally offering 93-95% comps on those two cards, its not like he's offering 80% and arguing over $5. The seller is arguing over $5 when someone is already offering 90+ %. From a business aspect I think Bulba negotiating a deal over $5 is reasonable when someone is trying to buy at 75-80%. You see a lot of people low ball Bulba all the time.

That 5 dollars adds up no matter how you cut it.

@i2Shea I didn't lose any respect. It's just petty, especially when it is for YOUR PC.. maybe the guy was too embarrassed to say, "I overpaid for this card, so this is my price so I don't go red." Maybe it's from his own PC and needs the money, unlikely, but you never know. Point is, if you're negotiating your cost to your relative ROI, it makes sense to let $5 be a breaking point. If it's for your personal collection, fuck off and pay the $5. It will appreciate in time, and when you move you're collection down the road you will have well made up the $5. Also, with sales within a previous 2 month window that capped 600+, it'll no doubt get there again. Who knows when, but it will.

I have vended once as well. And this is kind of typical when you vend. Before the place opens vendors walk up to each others booth. It is up to you if you want to sell or don't want to sell. I think it is a good moment if you need a bit more cashflow early on, but if you don't need that? Just don't sell already. Vendors will also come by later on, if they really want / need that item of yours and it is still there? They will make a better play on it later on.

this is the content that gives you a real perspective on how the vendor space operates. This happens in all collectible markets. some vendors want to move inventory fast so will take the lower % to stay liquid. This is why he will ask for the lower numbers to give himself some wiggle room for when he goes to sell it. This is perfectly normal for this space. Im glad he shows it to give people a real perspective on how vending works. They call them scammers sometimes when they offer lower %s but in reality people think they can get 100% comp selling to vendors... when vendors dont even get 100% after selling online after fees. Its the part of the casual collector i hate the most. They dont understand comps dont mean they got paid exactly that. take 13-15% away and thats what they paid. Been in this space for 15 years now as a dealer/collector. This is good content for people to understand what goes behind the scenes.
