The Windsor Police Service has launched an investigation following a suspicious fire at a residential building on the city’s west side. Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on January 29, 2025, officers responded to a report of an active fire at a property in the 100 block of Cameron Street. Officers arrived at the scene and found a vacant fourplex engulfed in flames, with the fire extended to a neighbouring residence. Windsor Fire and Rescue Services worked for several hours to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported because of the incident, but the buildings sustained extensive damage. The Windsor Police Arson Unit is treating the fire as suspicious. Investigators urge residents and business owners within the area to check their surveillance or dashcam footage, specifically between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., for video evidence that may assist with the investigation.

The second fire at this same building since September! This fire tonight broke my heart. We have had four of these within one single block in just over six months, and its getting very scary to live here, seeing these fires over and over. I haven't seen anything like this in twenty years of living within this neighbourhood, till now. 💔 I feel especially horrible for the displaced family who lived in the neighbouring house, as the fire spread from one building to the next. This is terrifying to witness, and I hope they will all be okay. I couldn't be more grateful to the firefighters for all of their hard work. I wish they didn't have to come out here so often. City Hall needs to take a good hard look at what is going on over here and actually help us figure out and stop what keeps happening. This is far too many fires, in far too short a window of time, in just a very small block.

Definitely! My wife smelled the smoke first when we were walking our dog, and then we saw the smoke plume and the way it was lighting up the apartment building to the north...absolutely horrific. Feel gutted for the people living in the house that was affected next door!
