Massive Brutal DETONATE Nerf & DARK ASCENT Buff! ⚔️New World Update 1.9.4 Fury of the Spriggan

New World Update 1.9.4 comes with a significant nerf to Brutal Heartrune of Detonate as well as a fix to Invigorated Punishment that also nerfs it. On the other hand, Dark Ascent receives a very good buff. The new Fury of the Spriggan event is included in this PTR and it also includes loot changes, mainly to Flame Cores.

I've always used Dark Ascent as a temporary oh sh!t button to avoid dmg or to avoid a kill shot. People hate, but I think it's always been a good heartrune.

I never saw Dark Ascent used in PvP before and I haven’t seen it used since this change. It’s just severely underpowered compared to detonate and stone form and doesn’t even give good team fight like vines or bile bomb. A short period of invulnerability isn’t/hasn’t changed that.

@DukeSloth I think it'll be the new BIS for medium bruisers, personally. A lot of bruisers are only running 4 resil, so that combined with the synergy crits have with GA's tree make it a really good option. Bruisers do tons of basic attacks.

Ranged and ratty melee can just swap to mortal empowerment, or keep invig since a lot of their damage is still from abilities. It's crazy how they're just endlessly nerfing medium melee when it's already been absolutely wrecked by fortify nerfs, refreshing move nerfs, and 300con grit. So dumb to me to "fix" something that's been "broken" since it came out. It became part of the established meta, changing it is just insulting.

I find it hard to determine how much this will affect med melee. I think a very significant amount of damage actually comes from abilities most of the time in clumps.

Please stop saying everyone "will be getting new gear" You along with everyone else doesn't know what their message meant. Completely nullifying our gear in the future completely destroys all of the work they've put in for the past two years. Are they going to scrap the board with gypsum and umbrals? After adding those into the game. We don't know what's going to happen and telling the community this only kills the drive. I believe its just going to be another grind how it is from 500-600 , 600-625 and now 625-650. A third system we have to put of current gear thru. This is what makes the most sense not un-doing all of the work they've put into the game.

What do you mean? They EXPLICITELY said that the max gear score increase WILL obsolesce our current gear and that our current 625 will NOT be upgradable to the new max. None of your suggestions here aligns with those statements. This can be taken how you perceive it or how I do! Meaning 625 gear will not be upgradable in our current system because they're going to have a new system coming later this year. And for your other point. They need to make crafting more viable for the solo players and as a catch up mech for new players to get geared. BUUUUUUUUUT we don't know what's going to happen. Hate for you to have to walk these comments back in a few months. Just be more optimistic bc AGS's hasn't really detailed what is going to happen.

When they say "Yes and no", they are responding to these parts: "Will the new max gear score increase obsolesce our current gear?" -Yes (obsolesce = to make something useless) "Will our current 625 be upgradeable into the new gear score max?" -No With them explicitly saying that our current gear will be useless and not upgradeable, I don't see how there's any pathway to turn this into "but actually you can still upgrade it in the new system". I understand that that may be frustrating to hear if you have a lot of BiS gear, but that is what they have communicated to us so far. If I'd have to talk this back later, it would be because AG changed their plans.
