Thanks Tom. The CNC can be a scary thing especially when you are running a program for the first time. I have a feeling my entire CNC life will be spent having mini panic attacks.

@@GregsGarage I bet you'll get comfortable with it as you use it more. I have had a similar experience as I have learned to use my Shapeoko CNC. Still learning. Although the Tormach is a whole different level of intensity.

Good lessons learned. Be patient and double check and test runs just above the part to build confidence. You will want that wrench made from steel eventually. Thanks for sharing Greg.

Agreed on the steel wrench Randy. I'll have to tool up for running steel parts at some point... My bank account may need some "recovery time" before that happens. LOL!

Greg, in PathPilot, use the max velocity slider to creep up on the part and look at your distance to go DRO (DTG) to stop those crashes from happening. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp2sZ52vi5uJsJo I am almost always making one offs and this has saved me countless times.

You need grip jaws so the part doesn’t fly out, I’m sure your well aware of them, but there is a easy to make kind, it has to do with screws, I’ve seen them before but have a difficult time explaining it.

1/2" plate is no match for a cheapo battery powered skil saw... Making the tools has been a great learning experience.

Ain't that the truth! I'm trying to learn that the CNC does only what it's told... My brain wants to blame it, but I can't let that happen. I need to understand the problems and what causes them... The lessons suck to learn, but its necessary if I want to do better next time. Aloha WIDE!

Oh man! That was almost 4 years ago!!! A lot has happened since then. I now have a couple CNC machines at home and a few others off-site that I can use. Life (outside of my real job) has become all about the robots!
