I have followed over 20 inlay videos, step for step, and it never works. It mostly puts the plug and pocket on top of each other, even if I do what board at a time. Then there's the error crap, tool path won't cut anything crap. STEP FOR STEP AND IT NEVER WORKS.

GE GSCS3KGYAFSS. Mine was just wet, all pins were intact. I cleaned everything with CRC QD Electronic Cleaner, put some Super Lube 21030 Synthetic Grease in the connector, then heat shrinked it. Good as new. Video was awesome, thank you!

Thank You that was spot on, as you said because of condensation the little black connector on of the wires had moisture for years and was oxidized and broken, I cut off connector and used sta-kon wire nuts to remake connection. 30 minute repair saved a wad of dollars.

Can you use a slapper on a motorcycle tank without a dolly?
@GregsGarage25 күн бұрын
I wouldn't. It would likely just cave the dent in more. I would generally find a bar or a pick that you can run through the gas filler opening and put some pressure on the back side, then use the slapper very lightly. The other option is to use a stud welder or a glue tab from the PDR world to pull the dent from the outside.

I bought the Seams Impossible tool but I have a questions. The side screws to affix the tool in the jackets don’t line up. The screw hole in the tool is closer to open edge of the jacket. I can see the majority of the screw hole in the tool. So can I adjust the screw holes in the jackets, making them slight oval versus round?
@GregsGarage25 күн бұрын
Jim, I just notices a few parts 2-3 weeks ago where the holes were off-line a bit. I looked at our drilling jig and the guide for the side holes got egg-shaped, and I didn't catch it... You can definitely enlarge the holes without it affecting the performance of the jacket. The jacket and shims are a VERY loose tolerance situation.

Great - I’ll make the adjustments to them and press on - thanks

On my 1997 5.4 the #7 coil pack and plug has been replaced 2 times in 2 months (1st time I changed all the CP & SP). When the last one had to be changed I was told the hole the retaining bolt goes in was striped. I can definitely wiggle the CP head when it’s “bolted down”. It runs fine for a while but 5 weeks since the last change I’m getting the PO307 code again and again after I clear it. Could the bolt that secures it being loose and therefore the cp head being loose be cause the problem?

Sorry for commenting on a 9 year old video. Is there a specific reason to have the transformer near the pickup in a circuit like this? Could I say mount the transformer further away like on a pedal board and just run the output from my guitar to the transformer via guitar cable first before bringing it into the rest of my signal chain?

The 2009 and 10’s are a completely different story as the valve covers have to come off to change these after the redesign.

@stevengorman28852 ай бұрын
Its galvanic corrosion. I replaced the valves before I saw your video. GE used metal and nonmetal together ferrous and non ferrous You cant do that the electrolite was the water vapor in the air being drawn across it by the condensor fan. Bad GE it should have never happened someone saved a couple of dollars. Never put metal and non metal together thats what happens...

These look super interesting! Does each individual 'coil' require its own transformer?
@GregsGarage3 ай бұрын
These are exactly like a transformer. If you have 5 coils around the magnets (the primary) and 10 on the bobbin (the secondary) you'd have a 1:2 increase in voltage. You can mix and match any way you want. I don't think you'd ever need to have a second transformer on a given pickup.

My GE refrigerator isn't the same model as yours in the video, but basically the same connections behind the lower plastic panel. Thanks to your video, I went straight to the problem. The connector was corroded! Not as badly as your though, so I was able to avoid the cutting and resoldering of the wires. I cleaned up the individual connections to get as much of the corrosion off as I could. I then applied some moisture preventative dielectric lube to the connector and reconnected it. Problem solved! Total repair time was about 15 minutes. Thank You!!

Great video! Are there any long term negative side-effects on the neck with this kind of storage? I see that the body is slightly raised as each guitar sits in the cradle. I ask because when in a case the angle produced by the cradle is lower and was wondering whether there is any long term negative side-effects to the neck and if so how to mitigate them. Thanks in advance to you or anyone who kindly responds.
@GregsGarage3 ай бұрын
There is a long standing debate about storing guitars on hanger vs in cases... Then flat vs on end vs on the side... I haven't seen gravity affect a guitar long term. I have seen moisture (or lack thereof) have adverse effects on a neck. If you're starting with quality materials, the neck will be just fine sitting on a neck rest... Vince Gill stores a lot of his collection this way. I'd put him at the top of the food chain with regard to collectors who are also monster players. If he thought for a second storing a guitar like that would have a negative effect, I guarantee he would change his method.
