Here we have the vastly powerful and highly flexibly ENTITY ULTRA PERC from SSF (Steady State Fate). This module continues and develops on the Entity Percussion Synthesiser and is part of the drum line up for SSF right alongside the ENTITY ULTRA KICK.
The ULTRA PERC features lots of modular building blocks inside its circuits including two resonant filter cores, a wave folder, filtered noise generator, trigger delays, envelopes, VCAs and more. It’s a whole mini modular system in a module that while focussed on percussion sounds can be used as a processor for external signals. You’ll see anything from west coast style synth voices through the broken tape machine style FX processing in the video … among the more obvious wide range of drum sounds.
It’s 100% analog (despite some digital FM like tones at times) and to be blunt it is utterly impressive, vast in its potential yet still easy to dial in great sounds.

Well said, funny that SSF have the Ultra Kick when this will churn out massive chest bumping kicks (and nice soft little round ones too) and the twin resonant filter meets folder as an odd external processor was a lovely surprise.

absolutely amazing, and fantastic video, i really like how you broke down what is making which sound at what time in this. that tends to get a little confusing in a lot of gear videos, but well done, you made it less confusing!! also that module sounds freaking amazing, it's really stepping on the GAS.

that was a great demo. I immediately plugged in a square wave to the trig and started folding those audio rate "drums". so cool. Learned a lot from this, and got some great ideas. Look forward to the patreon vid. thanks DivK. watched it 3 times now.

Hi Nick, that's great to hear thank you for the comment. Always great to hear when people are getting something from the videos. My ultimate goal is to leave a huge trail of patches for people to try out across all these videos. Gotta admit after editing the video I went back to put an oscillator into the trigger again and play with the audio rate drum thing. Love it.

whats the noise like this with gates? i've got my jomox on reverb because the high freq noise from gates made it awful for recording
@DivKid
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
"noise like with gates" what sort of gates do you mean? Like do I need a noise gate? Like other analogue modules if there's an issue with your power (massive weak point for Eurorack) then you may hear it through this (I didn't while working on the demo). I'm also not hearing it make any of it's own noise. The output in the video is raw and unprocessed so there's no noise gating or removal. Feel free to follow up though as I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.
@kiunthmo
@kiunthmo Жыл бұрын
@@DivKid i found some modules have a kind of trigger noise, high freq. whether thats from a sequencer, or a PTM on the module itself. imagine a HP filtered white noise for the trigger or envelope duration, not loud, but definitely audible. could be power, i've done what i can to debug that. intellijel case so power ~should~ be good. but i definitely think modules themselves are a factor, i tried buying an e440 multiple times and all had high freq noise (constantly), but got a joranalogue filter 8 and its crystal clear. i'd be selling the jomox anyway, wasn't a fan of the process of working with it.

Hi Jay, lots of sequencers offer both CV and gate sequencing at the same time. I used the Eloquencer where on the same channel I select the gate pattern then the note per step too. What equipment do you have? I'm sure we can figure something out.
@jayopp109
@jayopp109 Жыл бұрын
@@DivKid Thanks for the response! Your right, it is way easier then I thought. I am using Stolperbeats sequencer which I believe you can't manipulate the CV but I can send the trigger to another sequencer that can. Took me a day trying to use a LFO, comparator, and quantizer before I realized this lol
@DivKid
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, ah yeah Stolperbeats (love that one) is just rhythm so I would use it's clock to drive another sequencer and then use that for the CV. Also nice results from LFOs, comparators and quantisers too, i.e. doing it the modular way :)

They were working on a few things but nothing has come of that publicly (or privately to my knowledge, though like any company they'll have things we haven't seen yet). 4 tuners at once would be handy, as would reboot in last state. Seems like a great design that lots of people haven’t heard of because before CalSynth started making them assembled, they were DIY only. (I’m not affiliated with CalSynth i just like their stuff.) i still haven’t had the funds to buy it. But i have a major soft spot for synthesized percussion (like the UltraPerc).
