If you split your Vanilla Beans you get a lot more flavor, the flavor comes from the outer/inner of pods & seed! IMO✌🌻🌱

Jamerrill, I am with you 100%. When it comes to groceries this gal can stretch a dollar. When I was a young single mom of 2 after paying bills I typically had $10 for groceries. I would buy sale items only and make a big casserole or chicken & dumplings and we ate it all week. I might have gone hungry but my kiddos never did. God bless you and your family.

Girl you are an inspiration! I’m home today with my 8 week old puppy I just got and we are watching your videos. When my 2 hungry boys lived at home I felt like I was always making enough food for a family of 11. Lol. Now that they have moved out, got their own homes and one is married and made me a gramma, I still cook big meals for just two of us and freeze the extras. Just over the weekend my husband got out some packets of leftover freezer meatloaf and this week we will have leftover lasagna from the freezer. Sending you love and sunshine!

Love all your videos and your bright, sunshiny personality! When I first started using my label maker I found I was wasting a lot of tape when I printed one label at a time. Reference power outages: we use a wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer that we put the sensor in the freezer and the battery operated receiver on the kitchen window sill. That way when we lose power we can monitor the freezer temperature without opening the freezer door to check.

Loved this vlog! It always blows my mind on how well prepared you are to not only feed your big but help those in need as well. 🥰 Something I would love to try someday, can some beef and chicken/turkey. I've seen you and Becky both do it, having that convenience of just opening a jar just makes me say Ahhh. I know how fortunate it is to be married to an Electrician, I'm married to one as well! Mine is still in the work field and he works on the Powerline (high voltage) side. When we put our addition on the house in 2016, he did all the electrical...huge savings! 😊

2,200sqft basement?! 😮 My entire house is only 1200sqft!! 😆 I live too close to sea level so basements don't exist here unfortunately, of course neither do root cellars or anything of the like. Cold storage is basically non existent here and I've yet to figure out how to store certain foods long term. Potatoes and garlic both sprout very quickly in the pantry, the darkest option and probably the coldest, which doesn't say much. Yay southern living! Haha

Unfortunately, most houses in the UK don't have basements or cellars as we call them but I so wish we did. I have a few groceries in my shed, my daughter's call it 'Mams mini market'. They know if they are struggling, they can come and help themselves, I just buy one or two extra items at a time, all are shelf stable. Love your content, cooking and the biggest respect to you for keeping your family well fed, loved and looked after.

You could use the small magnet on the whiteboards on the basement freezers to keep an ongoing paper, grocery list written down. So when you go to shop or put an order in, you can just grab the list from each freezer and add a new blank piece of paper under the magnet.

Have you considered solar panels? My home isn't huge, but my electric bill was running anywhere from $175.00 to $280.00 per month. The system I have will pay for itself in 3 years. At the end of each installation year I will receive a $9000.00 check. I have the option of using it or signing it back to the company ( which I plan to do). Once I've paid it off, my monthly bill will reduce to single digits. I currently pay $117.00 monthly. Best investment I could have made for not only energy conservation, but it's economically better for me financially.
