In Toronto in 2023, I was crouching down. I am 57, and I still feel the pain in my knees and back. But, Queen Su commanded, and I obeyed. BABYMETAL really makes you feel that you are part of the concert. One of the best experiences ever! 🤘🦊🤘

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri (= festival)" → Metali. (The last video is a special rendition using a local festival arrangement in Okinawa.) The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese festival to stoke up people's exhilaration and especially to fuel the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi (神輿) on their shoulders that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals. The audience did get low at every venue in the world, because no one can resist following our Queen's direction. 😄 (Then they jump up from crouching posture like spring ejectors after Momoko's "Are you ready ?".) Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style and her growl gave an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness. If you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley).

I’m in my 60’s and when I got down at the Seattle concert last year, I could feel the pain in my knees, but it was all worth it and so much fun to be participating with BabyMetal. I love the format of the Music Video and a live performance or two. Always look forward to the next BabyMetal reaction. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I always appreciate you checking out the live versions in addition to the studio album. Really helps illuminate how a song is adapted when performed, and your insights are always interesting to listen to!

Jaron's insights aren't culturally as deep as Professor Hartley's, but he tackles the Babymetal phenomenon from a purely artistic approach, which I really enjoy as well. I would love to see AJ and Jaron in a zoom chat (for KZbin) discussing Babymetal from their respective areas of expertise, I think that would be very interesting. Have you had a chance to take a look at Jaron's solo covers of Kingslayer and From Dusk Till Dawn yet? If not, do yourself a favour and check them out; save FDTD till last as the vocals there are incredible for one person. Anyway S, I hope you have a very happy holiday season, and I hope you have a safe and prosperous New Year, year of the Snake I believe? Stay well.

@lencooke944 now that's a collaboration I'd love to see! I actually checked out Jaron's cover of "Kingslayer" as it popped up after this video, it was great!

Awesome! This is such a fun and amazing song! Really embodies the traditional festival vibes and combines it with a groovy modern metal style. At the DC show I went to a month ago, the vast majority of the 4-6K crowd got down to our knees, even the grandpas 😂. It was amazing. For the Legend 43 version, I do wish they utilized the guest festival drum group a bit more than just choreography. Either way, Babymetal never fails in delivering a performance! Note: Legend “43” - 43 is a play on words, similar pronunciation “Shisa”, the Ryukyu Island’s protective deity, a lion guardian of sorts, hence the giant lion stage piece at the end of the catwalk. 🤘🦊🥁

Consider me a 57 year Babymetal dancing fool!! I would get low too, but both times I've seen this performed, there wasn't room. I felt like I was disobeying a direct order!! Gotta dance to stay young, and this music leaves no option in my opinion!!

"Wasshoi Wasshoi Wasshoi Wasshoi!" Great triple reaction, this is a fun song and the crowds love it (despite any creaking knees). It is a bit of a shame the filming of the Okinawa performance didn't give a lot of focus to the traditional drummers (with them there the Kami Band didn't get to do their instrumental intro, so no guitar or bass solos that time).

I didn’t know how we were all going to get low. Su said get low and we figured it out together. You sit on the person’s knees behind you and the person in front of you sits on your knees. That’s how it happened in NY Terminal 5 this pat November. It was awesome!

Wow I was sure when it came to the third video I knew which one it would be...was I fooled. Don't know where you found this one but those drums have really deep roots in the Okinawa culture and what a thoughtful treat to have them join this performance. Your breakdowns and observations between the MV and the live performances was interesting and thoughtful as always. Whenever I see you've got Babymetal cued up I know I'm in for a great reaction. I'm not even gonna say what my age is. But if I'd have been at either of those shows they'd still be trying to get me up off the floor today. Another great reaction. A peaceful and joyous holidays to you!

The third video is a special version performed at the final concert of the tour held in Okinawa in March of this year. It features a traditional Okinawan performance called “eisa” with chants and taiko drummers.

Excellent triple reaction, thanks! Yeah, I'm that age and can confirm... but it doesn't matter: I only follow Su-metal's commands. 🫡 And yes, "METALI!" sounds very groovy and funky. I love Su's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!". Very happy for Momoko on her first song as an official member (the song was released in August 2023) and also for her feature on that kabuki (traditional Japanese theater) style interlude. 🤘🦊

When Su-metal says get low, you get low. I'm 40 + some changes and have an implant in my left leg because of a former injury, but I crouched this June when I was told to at their show. And then a 20 something girl sat on my knee. WHAAAAA!!!!

This song is the product of 3 of the 4 'main' Babymetal writers. It was written by Norimetal (Syncopation) and Ryu-metal (Mirror Mirror) and arranged by Megmetal (BxMxC). It's odd because it doesn't really sound like any of them. It feels fairly unique. And a complete surprise for many after TOO. Though I always knew they were going to do the complete opposite tone of TOO once it has finished it's single releases.

I'm 47, and my wife and I both have crappy knees, and we saw Babymetal in Dallas last year, we were very close to the stage and packed in like sardines, the crush was unreal, and they actually told the crowd to sit down (later in the tour they changed it to "get low") and literally couldn't even move 😂😂😅
@klauskluge7256Күн бұрын
In the first performances of this song they wanted the audience to "sit down!", which was not possible in a packed venue, so they changed it to "get low!".

Nice reaction! This song is so much fun, it always makes you happy to watch. If you can, react to Road of Resistance from this Legend 43 show, they give a lot of prominence to Kami Band, with cameras close to them appearing all the time during the song.

Great triple reaction! The last one was at the "Legend 43" concert, a very special, and quite localized, concert, held on the island of Okinawa. Their first live concert there, AFAIK. The Eisa drummers were special to Okinawa, as are the "Shisa", mythological creatures. You might have noticed the giant Shisa head at the end of the catwalk. No fox heads this time 😉 Of course you get low, if Queen Su wishes you to do so, even if you´re in your mid 50´s, like me 🤣This song live is so hype, so much fun, that you feel the ache (if any) only after the end of the concert 🤣 I didn´t really feel my legs after my first BABYMETAL live concert, but it was so worth it!

People feared Babymetal left the Kawaii behind them with their latest album "The Other One" being more serious. And then they came around with this one, already showing their playful side in the official video. There was an opportunity to play together with Tom Morello, there was at least one festival where they met him as they were playing the same day. But there are various possible resons why it did not happen that they got him on stage.

The guitar at the end is different from the studio version at MM so at least some was being done live by a Kami. Same with 43.

Isnt it crazy that every Babymetal video you watch you think is amazing...They dont really have a bad song...First band in my life that ive felt like that.
@tanewoodley98066 сағат бұрын
That's one of the things that blows me away about them; four albums and not a bad song among them. A few that I don't like as much, but the S and A tier songs are about 2/3 of their discography. Their composers deserve whatever they're being paid and then some.

That catwalk is from traditional Japanese theatre. I don't remember the name but they used to have these walkways through the audience, the actors performed a couple of acts on them. Walks, fights, interactions, revelations. I don't think you can name a BM performance without roots in Japanese traditions.

And so begins the Babymetal assault on the sacred towers where other bands fanbases reside. This was the first collab released by Babymetal in the Momo era, which has been quickly followed by six more interesting collaborations. These Collabs have allowed Babymetal to remain active and current in fantastic new music that exposes them to potentially new ears, importantly, without burning a full Babymetal song. Incredibly clever marketing. I smell a new album in the New Year, perhaps even with a track or two released prior to their European Arena tour. I live in hope.

Love when you react to multiple versions of a song like this! You really get to pick out the subtle differences and how everything translates from the studio version to a live setting. Which in BABYMETAL's case, is pretty much always an improvement. I saw them in November and let me tell you... my knees were definitely in pain during the "get low" section but the adrenaline from the show kept me going. It wasn't until I got out of the venue that my body started screaming at me but it was completely worth it. If they every come around in your area, you won't regret going to see them, I promise. As for recommendations, I'm just looking forward to whatever BABYMETAL song you decide to react to next. And for you to check out Hanabie as well at some point. "We Love Sweets" is a good place to start with them!
