Just as the titular and the thumbnail says, this video is basically about me just ranting about my hair breaking and some products I tried on my washday. Cheers #hair #relaxedhair #longhair #hairloss

All hair is dead. When hair sheds naturally, you will see a white bulb which was the live part within your follicle. It's not supposed to be black or brown. There should be a white bulb at the end if it's shed hair rather than broken off hair. However, the white stuff you are seeing is build up. Your hair is going to collect buildup regardless if you're wearing a bonnet because your scalp skin is constantly shedding as well as producing sebum. Even If you were to put nothing on your hair and scalp, you would eventually have build up due to not washing your hair. And even if you wash your hair while it's in box braids, the build-up usually still gets trapped in those little knots at the base. You admit to not washing your hair for 7 weeks so that white stuff was definitely build up from your scalp. It does not look like a lot of hair considering your hair was in those braids for such a long time. So hopefully it's all just shed hair.

If it's flaky, it's dandruff. If it's pulp-ish, it is shed hair. If it's dusty, it has to be lint. I wish you good luck on your blissful journey. ❤

i’ve been dealing with breakage after removing my braids and almost cried! i kept them for 2 months and would wash them every week and dry them with a blow dryer to avoid molding or any other possible inconvenience. ever since i removed my braids my hair had never felt so thin . every time i styled my hair afterwards i’d just see chunks coming off 😢 it finally stopped and i feel like i’m back on square 1 😭

I’m so sorry about that. My hair has also stopped shedding and I feel like I’ve had a set back. Don’t get discouraged just keep treating your hair right, it will recover.

Girl! That's why I'm so scared to braid my hair again, because of the thinning and breaking, even when you take care of them and being careful during the takedown you lose 😢, I guess braids are not for everyone.

@@helsinki-syd I agree that braids is not for everyone, I even get more breakage whenever I twist my hair so I stopped totally and when I want to get braids I don't make them small.

I just started watching your video and I’ll probably comment again lol but the hair loss at the beginning is normal… it’s dirt, oil and product … when our hair is in braids or even locs it collects dirt , oil and products… you can clean your hair with everything you can imagine while in protective style but you will still have dirt in the end… plus we normally shed tons of hair every day so even though our hair is away it will still shed … your hair will be fine 👍🏽

Thank you for commenting 😻 This particular hair loss is abnormal because of the lint in my hair, it got stuck on the strands of my hair and my hair snaps as I was combing even after using a leave in conditioner and oil. I need to stop the particles from getting on my hair.

@@tifeoluwaniwhen you find a way to keep the lint and dirt out- let me know. I’m new to natural hair. So, I’ve cried many times from losing my hair after a “protective” style and the dirt. I used to spray my hair with water during takedown- but when it mixed with the dirt - my hair became a Brillo pad. 😭😭 I had to find what worked for me, which is oil - nothing water based. The lint slips out when I comb thru. I still lose a lot of hair; but it’s not as hurtful anymore. 😉

Also using conditioner and or oil to help remove your braids might also help

I’ve been watching your videos for a while and one thing I noticed is you don’t trim enough of your ends off. That’s probably the cause of your breakage. I say don’t a good trim and it will be back healthy soon.
@tifeoluwani8 ай бұрын
I trimmed almost 4 inches of my hair less than 3 months ago, I had people say I trimmed too much but it’s still not enough? I would probably have to trim half of my hair off for me to achieve that.

It looks like old gel or edges control with your Shedding hair. (Normal)

I don't use edge control on my hair at all, I later discovered that it was lint. I am currently looking for was to get rid of lint in my house especially after I do my laundry.

I honestly think your hair is saying you're protective styling too much, it wants to be free sunlight, air nd and direct nourishment

Righttttttt. I should do that more but I need to figure out how to prevent lint from getting on my hair.

What’s the difference between shedding and breaking ? I see a lot of other ppl say it’s normal
@tifeoluwani8 ай бұрын
Shedding is when a strand of her had completed its life cycle so it falls off from the root while breakage is when the hair strands snaps off due to a lot of factors. Shedding is normal but breakage isn’t normal.
