Cracks me up that there’s one silly elk trailing and getting worked up at getting left behind for a moment, because that’s exactly how sheep behave. I’m a sheep shearer, and in my experience there’s always one in the flock being ridiculous

this reminded of me when I was a kid...my family and I went on a bike ride and my father went in front of me with everyone else... and as he was getting further he forgot that I existed and I was screaming real hard for him to wait and I screamed to the top of my lungs and he just forgot that he had 1 more extra kid... so finally after going for so many miles he turned around and I wasn't there... so he sent my brother to come back and get me... I was so relieved yet so tramatized at the same time cause they just left... so it was refreshing to see how some elk waited for the last one...lol... that made me happy :)
@hongkong197210 жыл бұрын
I hope you're okay now though even though your father's lack of consideration has burned a traumatic experience in your memory. I could never understand how parents could even walk in the malls, or anywhere out in public, and nowadays while texting, while their precious children are yards behind them. Parents, it only takes a split second for some maniac to snatch up your kid, never to be found again.
@silvercord201810 жыл бұрын
justme HK I wish you could have told my parents this when I was growing up...but they were so busy fighting with one another that they wouldn't have even listened to you... I was around so many child molesters and pedophiles that I'm surprised nothing happened to me. I'm still in my 20's and I'm alive and well and that's all that matters... this is why I was so happy for that last elk to finally make it because it reminds me so much of myself. I'm happy that the elk wasn't left behind and there were actually a few waiting for him, whereas there was no one waiting for me... but I'm still here and alive and well, so that's something to celebrate :)

The guy that filmed this said he was heading out of his vehicle to help (and you can see the vehicle across the way, that person is also getting out to help). However, this little elk finally figures it out. Give nature a chance first. If they can't do it in the end, then that's when we step in. I love how the other Elk wait for him and once he catches up to them, they continue on their journey. :-)

When I lived in eagle canyon ranch I had to take the frontage road past the old Oxbow ranch on my way to Helena, and there was a herd of elk there every AM around 6:00 that numbered around 300. I always caught them then and around 4:30 PM. It was amazing and the lead Cow and Bull would stand in the road until the entire herd went across and down to the missouri river to drink. Beautiful , incredible creatures!. Good vid.!

@pgreenwood47810 жыл бұрын
It would be good to create an elk crossing corridor on this road, since elk have to migrate. It would be easy enough to make a gap in the fence for the young and the mothers so no elk would be left behind. I have seen too many bruised and bleeding hocks of deer and elk who have to jump a fence like this twice a day. They also make collapsible fences for wildlife that spring up again afterward. Let's be conscious of the needs of forms of life that share this planet with us.

@Slenvr10 жыл бұрын
Put some glasses on. They were all waiting.
@kashewz10 жыл бұрын
Slenvr If you understand the basic concept of "herd mentality," you'll know that they were not "all" waiting for that one elk. Four were waiting, but some are waiting for the other four, which causes another chain reaction where another group is waiting for the other group. This in turn turns into the "bandwagon effect." Maybe you should do some reading and research before trolling on youtube and making yourself look like an idiot.
@sankai9110 жыл бұрын
kashewz how exactly do you know that it were exactly 4 of them that were waiting on him and not a single one, causing the same effect on the other three? (by the way, why 4, I only see 3 that are a little separated from the rest) anyway, if the herd was waiting for the 3-4, which were waiting for the last one, then the horde was also (indirectly) waiting for the last one, so either way Slenvr is right with his second sentence..
@kashewz10 жыл бұрын
***** Go wiki "herd mentality," idiot. You learn that shit in basic biology back in high school. Maybe go read a book and you'll look less like an ignorant lil fuck. =)

I was so happy that last one made it!!! I live in northern NM and I actually did rescue an yearling that was stuck in a fence...she was upside down with her front leg wrapped in the top 3 wires...I cut the bottom wires first and then the top ones. she fell down and I rubbed her shoulder for a bit, afraid she wouldnt be able to walk...then she slowly got up and then walked off. I hoped she learned a lesson, where she jumped over was a hard spot on a hill...and just down the fence line, the fence was only 2 ft high. Elk are really hard on fences, they tear them down all the time getting stuck in them and yanking themselves loose. poor elks

@moomoo30316 жыл бұрын
why did you say that? how was it supposed to kick me when it was hanging upside down in barbed wire and exhausted???? If it had been a full grown elk, maybe a different story, but it was a little one. I still feel special about helping that poor elk. If I hadnt helped her, someone else might have just shot her. so you know what I want to say to you? go away and be mean somewhere else
@crackerxxx19536 жыл бұрын
after exhaustion struggling in the fence it is easy prey for wolves, bear, coyotes where it can be ripped to shreds alive. shooting it would have been the humane thing to do. when that happens they do internal damage that may not be apparent to you while they are surging with adrenalin. you touchy feely folks are a riot, you pat yourself on the back and call it a "rescue", it aint. next time put it in a freezer and grill it like ya mean it. Elk are here for people to eat, they arent pets, they arent cuddly. watch some videos sometime of wolves dragging them down and ripping their guts out while they are alive, go rescue that.
