Engineers who understand such things are saying the pipeline was most likely caused by a pressure issue by the russian maintenance crew. The blowout was located in the bends where pressure would be greatest whilst pushing the 'pig' through. The gas needs to be flowing for it to travel but it hadn't been. The scene showed that it blew outwards not an explosion detonated from outside.

Disagreeing with Dominic a bit on Bakhmut. The description of that effort as "stupid" is correct from a western perspective as it is wasteful in lives for minimal gains. However, from a Russian perspective many of those lives are almost untrained Wagner prison scrapings and those losses do not hurt Russia's military manpower in any meaningful way. The Bakhmut attacks ARE causing Ukrainian casualties which are useful to Russia in a war of attrition...which is what this war is. Russia can make this sort of trade and win with it eventually. The advent of summer and the outcome of associated maneuver warfare that the Ukrainians are preparing for (as Dominic describes) will provide a better picture of Ukraine's chances to actually win this thing.

Everyone are experts when it comes to Ukraine War Realists made exaggerated assessments of Russia’s military power and belittled Ukraine’s chances in discourse that at times was orientalist in nature. The second way that expert views shaped policymaker action was by stoking fears of a repeat of the rout of the Afghan army following the US withdrawal of Afghanistan. Then third was that Western experts believed Russian claims they had reformed their army since it had performed so badly during the 2008 invasion of Georgia. They also counted the number of pieces of Russian military equipment and simplistically assumed they would overwhelm the smaller Ukrainian army. This is ALL Western BS its Talk, Talk, Talk and not enough Do, Do, Help!... Because as shown by Ukraine, the answer is simple... NATO must stop messing about making false promises and get material to Ukraine and that will save all from the Russian mental attitude to continue attacking its neighbours ???.

With all Russian might, it took them 6 months to take a small city. Near Donetsk and Lugansk, where they have all their supply chains set up for years. And after Bakhmut they will move a few km forward to the next even bigger cities. And will start destroying them. How does it give them any strategic advantage, comrade?

@@Chris-bb2cb And all this happens because Kyiv has never wanted to grant a referendum on the independence of the Russian-speaking Donbass with the possible presence of international observers. And then they say that Ukraine is a democratic state. Guess how many civilians have been killed by Ukrainian bombing in Donbass since 2014 just to force those people to give up their independence.
