Equalizer 3 was so different than first, but all in all it was super good. Loved the feeling after it, that "aww" and how deep it was.

Yeah it was a lot of fun. And I sure would love to see Denzel and Dakota get back together for another installment. Although if they never made another one, that would be fine too... they ended it nicely with 3. Denzel rules! He just tends to elevate anything he's in.

If you do like "The Raid" you should really think about getting the 4k... They did a massive new color grading job on it.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing Ken... that I might dig Night of the Comet more next time around. I'm sure I'll watch it at least a couple more times. I didn't dislike it... it just didn't knock my socks off on first watch. But I agree with you about the 4K being a stellar-looking disc. Seemed like a solid restoration. Scream Factory tends to be pretty reliable in that regard. Thanks for watching, my friend!

Great haul. Hope you enjoy the Raid movies as much as others. I personally liked the second one better, but the first is a blast. Rage of Honor is my favorite Ninja movie of all time. It was my first Ninja experience and re visit it often. Blooddsport was the perfect way to end your video. One of the best martial arts movies ever. I have my fingers crossed it will get a North American 4k release. I still sit on my DVD. My best pick lately was finding a Blu ray copy of Apocalypto. By far my favorite survival movie. Looking forward to what your working on next.

Thanks Dwayne! Yeah I would not be surprised if we do get a U.S. release of Bloodsport at some point in the next year or two. Vinegar Syndrome seems to have obtained a number of MGM licenses and worked with them quite a bit, so it's possible they could get it. Or maybe Kino. As for Rage of Honor, I enjoyed that one quite a bit... more than the other films from Sho Kosugi. It's a good one! (although Revenge of the Ninja is pretty damn awesome too lol) -- I've never seen Apocalypto... I may have to check that one out.

Thanks so much! Oh I think you're in for a treat with Existenz. Have you seen the film before? The colors really pop on 4K and there's a lot of depth and vibrancy to the image. Vinegar Syndrome did not disappoint with that one. And I love the packaging too. Speaking of which, I just got a new Vinegar Syndrome shipment in today myself... 5 titles (including Southern Comfort and Red Rock West). I'm definitely looking forward to digging into those.

EXISTENZ will be a first time watch for me. I dig all of Cronenberg’s earlier films from the 70’s-80’s but need to familiarize myself with his later works. I saw the VS stock getting low on the LE packaging and had to pull the trigger! I need to pickup SOUTHERN COMFORT on my next haul; the VSUs are untouchable!

Congrats🎉 Classic action movies are always the way to go! Raid series are fun to watch, but 4k’s price is still high, at this point not worth it imo, u should be fine w its blurays. Upgrade is an awesome movie, GREAT choice w 4k!

I really liked the exorcist believer. Great to see that the original actors played a part in it. Really like when they do that. Just as in the Halloween franchise I believe.

Oh I agree it was very cool to see the original actors come back. That was one of the things I liked about it. I just wish there had been a little bit more screen time for them (especially with Regan). But I thought their explanation for the current status of their relationship (Chris and Regan's) was totally plausible. I was actually digging the film myself up until around the third act.

I was going to wonder if Heather Graham is back, since I didn't recall her since the '90s. Then you said it was an old project that finally got brought back to life now. I hope one day Graham's career gets brought back to life. It didn't help that some author lady started using her name, which confused the heck out of everyone.

Yeah I felt the same way... I was a little surprised, because it seems like we haven't really seen much from Heather Graham in many years. But it turns out, she's been working the whole time, with multiple roles each year. She's just been under the mainstream radar and has done a lot of smaller, lesser-known movies or what not that most people have never heard of. But she's kept busy over the years. I'm looking forward to checking this new movie out.

I believe the French Connection collection contains Friedkin's revised color for #1. Fox later released the Signature edition with the original color that is preferred by most fans. Let us know what you think about the picture quality of A History Of Violence? One False Move is superb! Equalizer 3 was better than expected.

That's good to know... thanks for the info! I wasn't really sure which version to go with, since I didn't see this film for the first time until later in life (just a few years ago). So I'm up to speed on what the preferred color timing or look of the film is, which releases are best, etc. Sounds like the Signature edition may have been the better choice. If you enjoyed the IP man films and martial arts movies then I think you’d like Undisputed movies (especially 2,3&4) starring Scott Adkin’s (who is also the big bad in IP man 4) I could only get them from Amazon Germany to the UK but if you haven’t seen them I highly recommend them.

I’m also massive John Hughes fan and also love that Arrow 4K release but I do recommend the 4K Ferris Bueller’s Day Off release. It was always a fun ride just never my favourite of his films (that would be The Breakfast Club), but what I can say is that ‘the day’ really does come alive in 4K. It’s a wonderful transfer and I do highly recommend it. I’m also a massive Gene Hackman fan but the standard release presentation is just horrible. With Disney doing a number on the digital I figured we’d never get a worthwhile 4K of it so imported (standard U.S. for you) the Filmmakers Signature Series Blu-Ray. I’m very pleased to own it and it’s definitely an upgrade over the standard release. Also recommended. We also imported Kino’s Thunderbolt and Lightfoot on 4K and enjoyed it but the ending didn’t sit right with me. I could also feel Michael Cimino over thinking it as usual, but I did think Jeff Bridges stole the show. Clearly a massive star in the making right there. I may well add One False Move 4K to our ever growing Criterion collection but Lone Star on 4K is the one I’m really looking forward to. It’ll be only our second big purchase of the year having spent too much during the end of year sales, mainly on some wonderful limited edition Indicator Blu-ray releases. Yeah I may pick up Ferris Bueller on 4K at some point, now that I think about it... at the very least, my wife may want that one in the collection. She's starting to take an interest in having certain favorite movies of hers on 4K wherever possible (which I'm thrilled about! LOL!). As for French Connection, when I watched my copy of the first film a couple weeks back, I did notice it looked a little rough. I just assumed a lot of what I was seeing was baked into the source, and maybe due to Friedkin's choice of aesthetics, lenses, film stock, etc. He often liked that grittier look in his films, from what I've seen. But now I'm wondering if maybe the Filmmaker's Signature series blu ray might have been a better choice for me (someone else mentioned it here in comments as well, citing it as the better version). Personally, I never got around to seeing this classic until much later in life... just a few years ago. So when I bought my 2-pack, I had no concept of what it was "supposed" to look like or which transfers/treatments were the best available. I just went with the most affordable option in this case LOL! And finally, I also agree about the ending of Thunderbolt... I didn't really care for it either... and I was hoping for a bit more of a crescendo and impactful climax than we ultimately got from that film. Bloodsport is one of my favorite films. I also picked up the 4k media book this month. I watched it last night, and you are correct, it looks amazing compared to that double feature bluray.

I can remember my dad sitting my sister and I down one night and said, " I rented this movie and watched it last night. You 2 have to see it. You will love". I still love it to this day. It has aged nicely over time. I can't wait to get my hands on the 4k.

@@dwaynesager1864 That is so cool, Dwayne! With any luck, we'll get a U.S. 4K release in the near future. I see the 4K mediabook version I have is sold out now at Orbit DVD (where I bought mine). Oh actually, I just looked, and they have 3 copies left at Diabolik DVD. So if you want to buy the same version i got from a solid indie US retailer, this is a good site. I'm with you on that. I hate the cardboard storage thing. I hate fighting to get the disc out. I'm going to break a disc somebody. Equalizer 3 was a great movie. Need to pickup some 4K JCVD movies.

I’ve never seen Bloodsport but I’m curious because it has scenes filmed at the architectural oddity known as Kowloon Walled City. It was demolished in the early 90s and there was never much good footage so this movie is accidentally historical.

The price for one false Move never goes below £20 on blu ray as far as I’m aware, annoying

Yeah it might be because Criterion is a U.S. label, and One False Move is an import on your side of the pond. Those kind of releases can sit at a little higher price point. And Criterion tends to be a little higher-priced in general anyway, even over here in the U.S. Many here just wait for the Criterion sales that happen a couple times a year.

Yeah I understand that with Avatar. It's not for everyone. I'm a big Cameron fan, so I'm all in on all his stuff regardless. But even for me, the Avatar movies are down near the bottom of my list as far as Cameron movies go. I just like his earlier work much more. But I do still enjoy the Avatar movies. As for the Edge, if you like wilderness survival stories (with a human threat component too), you would probably like The Edge. It's a really good film, and Hopkins is awesome in it. Where do you get the Bloodsport 4K digibook without the stupid foreign rating labels on it like the one in the video?

I'm not sure what you're referring to... my copy of Bloodsport that I displayed in the video doesn't have any foreign rating symbols on the cover. There was one on the thin J-card that was wrapped around it when I first got it, but I didn't display that... the ratings symbols are not printed on the mediabook itself. Unless you're talking about the actual disc? In that case, I think that kind of stuff is mandated by law over there. So I think they have to do it on a lot of European releases. Anyway I bought my copy from Orbit DVD here: www.orbitdvd.com/products/bloodsport-4k-uhd-limited-edition-mediabook-region-free-b-cover-a -- And remember, it may show the rating symbol in the picture on this listing, but that symbol is not actually printed on the cover, just the J-card. The mediabook cover has no ratings symbols of any kind.
