Massive Quad Cities Taco Pizza Challenge in Chicago!!

A&Z #1047 - Professional eater Randy Santel versus Roots' Massive Quad Cities Taco Pizza Challenge hosted by the South Loop location of Roots Handmade Pizza in the Printer's Row area of downtown Chicago, Illinois!! There are 4 Roots Handmade Pizza locations around the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Roots is known for serving up delicious Quad Cities style pizza which originated from the Quad Cities on the border of Illinois and Iowa. Roots is under the same ownership as The Fifty/50 where I did a food challenge at a few weeks prior. I had 1 hour to feast on their massive 16" extra large Quad Cities style Taco Pizza and it came with an order of spinach artichoke dip, 5 giant mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara sauce, and a slice of Fruity Pebbles Cheesecake made by West Town Bakery. I enjoyed a 32oz beer by local Maplewood Brewing Company along the way which was totally optional and not required. I was trying to win my $60 pizza meal free plus a sweet t-shirt/hoodie and the first spot on the Wall of Fame. Roots Handmade Pizza's Massive Quad Cities Taco Pizza Challenge in Chicago, Illinois ($60):
- There are 4 Roots Handmade Pizza locations around the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
- This was filmed at the South Loop location inside the Printer's Row area of downtown Chicago.
- Roots is known for their Quad Cities style pizza originally from the Quad Cities in Illinois/Iowa.
- There is a 1 hour time limit to feast on their signature 16" diameter Quad City Style Taco Pizza.
- It is topped with taco-seasoned crumbled sausage, Roots Pizza sauce, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and taco-seasoned chips. Sour cream was served on the side.
- The challenge includes an order of 5 massive mozzarella cheese sticks, an order of Roots' spinach artichoke dip with a basked of pita bread slices, and a slice of Fruity Pebbles Cheesecake made by sister restaurant West Town Bakery. Be sure to try their popular mozzarella sticks if you go there!!
- The 32oz beer by Maplewood Brewing Company in this video was optional and not required.
- There is a 1 hour time limit to finish everything. Call ahead and schedule your challenge in advance if interested in trying this challenge. Winners earn the $60 meal free, a sweet t-shirt, and Wall of Fame!!

I grew up in Minnesota and taco pizza is my favorite pizza. I live in Michigan now and they have never heard of a taco pizza around me. I make them for my buddies when they come over, I think I'm starting a revolution. Edit: Best if you use Ortega taco sauce instead of pizza sauce.

I grew up in the quad cities and didn’t realize until around my early teens that this kind of pizza wasn’t common all over the country and was basically just localized to the quad cities and occasionally surrounding areas.

Sounds odd but their are 5 cities in the "quad" cities. I was born and raised in the quad cities. Moline, Rock Island, and east moline in Illinois. And Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa. There are also many surrounding cities in both states.

Next time you have cheese sticks for a dip instead of marinara try Dijon mustard mayonnaise mixed it's fantastic for cheese sticks try and let me know how you like it half and half on the portions.
