My variegated stingray gets brown edges on all the leaves? Growning in self watering pot with pon. Could it be nutrients? Not enough water?
@otaku.plants4 ай бұрын
I'll tell my mom to come give some advice on this one for you
@Alocasia_Bridget4 ай бұрын
So let’s think a bit, could it possibly be a pest or lighting issue? I get some round brown marks on edges when mine are too close to light. Sometimes pests can munch on tips. So for lighting I would take a light meter and just check it’s not over 3500 but I doubt that’s the problem because mine tolerates pretty high lighting. I use a magnifying glass to check under leaves just incase it’s pests. Another option is over fertilizing possibly? Are you micro fertilizing? I found mine actually yellowed terribly with over fertilizing. If you can send a photo that would help me more to narrow it down as I might have seen the same marks on one of mine.

@otaku.plants3 ай бұрын
What substrate are you using for them? What environment are they in? How are you deciding when to water them?
@suzannebeale70253 ай бұрын
@@otaku.plants Hiya, baby alo in stratum, I was keeping a reservoir in bottom of cup ( it's a small drinks cup , no holes in) but they were just melting, now no reservoir spraying a tiny bit around top every 2 days Had one large frydek variegated in rock wool from breeder was watering when felt dry around once a week but that had now rotted too All have T5 birrana bar lights on, babies in a IKEA greenhouse
@otaku.plants3 ай бұрын
@suzannebeale7025 yeah, unpopular opinion, I am not a fan of bottom wick water. I prefer them wicking using s string. Gets too saturated with water left at the bottom. I'd keep doing what you've started, leave bottom empty and spray when drying on the top to keep them moist. Holes help with aeration. Might be worth getting holes in there somehow, letting dry air touch the roots will help the root system get some oxygen, which keeps them strong. That's why all my planters have so many holes in them. If they are rotting, let the dry cycle last longer. Let it take a breath before wetting again. It's hard to tell without seeing this for sure. Send me a picture on Instagram or etsy. 🥰
@otaku.plants3 ай бұрын
@@suzannebeale7025 make sure you're getting good airflow. They don't need to be smothered in humidity. If your temp is low and your humidity is high, this will cause the plant to stop drinking & transpiring, so it ends up rotting. I plan to discuss this soon. I've been waiting for my new camera. I might just need to film it anyways, seems to be a popular problem.
