My wife and I passed through Dubois last year in the fall. We visited the NMVM and spent two days going through the collection. We took the WWII tour on day 2. The tour made a believer out of my wife! If she's impressed, I was impressed. The Viet Nam jungle simulation was so convincing! The museum is indeed out of the way, but it is well worth the extra time and miles to visit. I thought that it would be a few surplus tanks, but the variety and quality of the collection and the thought given to the interpretation of the collection is substantial.

My uncle was a WW2 tank driver. He operated a Sherman tank. Said it had a 35mm canon. He said sometimes he had to drive over the dead bodies on ground but tried to straddle them with his tank if he could. War is never beautiful.

It was actually 75, 76, and 105mm (based on variant) but regardless what your Uncle did was very brave, I hope to be a tanker like him one day.

Nice museum! In 1944 the 7th armored division fought in Overloon. There is also a Panther ausf in the war museum there. G. Come and see for yourself.

Would love to check it out. Wanted to fly in and visit, but the museum won't do anything to help you get the ~12 miles to/from the Dubois Wyoming Municipal Airport and the museum. Don't know why they can't have a shuttle, even charge $10 or $20 a person...
