@ atta boy, there’s always a way . I’m a deck builder in Omaha, really wanting to get one of these on the schedule, looks like a sweet system. great content though, love the KZbin stuff.

first im even seeing this fortress framing. wow. looks stronger and easier than ye olde p.t. lumber
@ravinbuilders
@ravinbuilders 6 күн бұрын
@@marshallz4 it’s a great system, super light too for the spans they can achieve. You can build a 20x20 deck with 2x6 joists spanned 16’ cantilever 4’ , 2 posts, and double beam full span.

What app do you use for the stair calculator?
@ravinbuilders
@ravinbuilders 7 күн бұрын
@@jocool3744 Fortress has their own stair calculator for the adjustable stair bracket. The bracket has different pin holes and spacing combinations to cover the range of rise/run and different orientations.

Thos is beautiful. What's to stop water from getting under the tiles and freezing? Popping them loose and or cracking?
@ravinbuilders
@ravinbuilders 9 күн бұрын
@@makokeith5289 it’s a draining tray and flexible adhesive. Worst case is re applying a tile down the road, but not likely.

"We didn't do good." lol good job going with the flow and solving the problem. How does the cost of these steel frame deck systems compare to wooden construction? And how do the projected lifetimes compare? My guess is this is quite a bit more expensive but will last a lifetime.
@ravinbuilders
@ravinbuilders 7 күн бұрын
@@bebbo_ right! We build a project with steel for about 18% more. The framing itself is about 3-4x what lumber is but overall a 50k deck with wood is less than 60k to the client with steel.

Today i tried using that camo lever tool, i put my first board down with a screw an plug an straight, was using the camo horseshoe clips with the metal spacer, i laid 5 rows at once an then tried using the camo lever, it was wanting to put the board that i was using the tool against up on the joist some, also my 2nd boards gap is tighter then all the rest of them, the average 1/4 to 3/16? I had a camo lever every 4 ft an got em as tight as i could, the 5th row was dead parallel to my string just seemed weird that the spcing itself wasnt exact like when you use your speedsquare. Am i doing something wrong? Thanks

Hey man, maybe a little too much force, but sometimes when we really have to bend the boards straight with the levers we will stand on the board being levered and just sing a plugged screw in the middle to pin it while we screw off the clips. The levers work well but sometimes you need to mess with your courses a little bit, but the clips should space 3/16 consistently.

@ravinbuilders i just want to say thank you for taking the time to respond, I think your doing some really nice work an you got alot of experience to ask questions about stuff, anytime it's the first time using something or trying something out will be some trial an errors until you can get a system figured out thats forsure.
