Gotta say that is such a poor shot to get out, neither defensive nor attack. And there's No way to sugar coat this, it seems like you've lost your confidence. But never give-up mate! just one good day away from getting that rhythm back. Play your game, try to spend some time in the middle, and build your innings. Maybe go back to your roots, have a chat with your earlier mentors like PJ. Get the process right, and execute it. We all want you to score some runs, which you will I'm sure. Had you been there at the wicket holding up one end, it could've been a win! Trying using your feet to the spinners, haven't seen a single sweep-shot either, make a change that suits you. Gareth you just need time in the middle, however it comes? It’s the only way out. You don’t become a bad player overnight. You’re the same player you were months ago. So just get some time in the middle somehow, maybe in a relaxed setting like t20 midweek or Sunday friendly or even 2s. Maybe a content creators match?! Just push through this sticky patch and believe in yourself.

I said this a couple of weeks ago. His confidence is gone and some time in the middle for the 2nds, getting the ball in the middle of the bat, would get that back. Because he is a good player as he showed at Woodhall Spa. I've been there myself and it worked for me.

Half volley, half tracker, full toss... No, you get a yorker... Oh well, that's how it goes. Their opener is class. I had a good off cutter. I'd try to set him up for that, as he does play away from his pads. He has a Great eye though, and can do that. But maybe if you face them in the finals, food for thought for your bowlers... The yorker, a very, very under rated delivery... Everyone can see your videos, everyone can see what get's you into trouble, the guys bowling to you have a plan from Video Evidence. Have you tried to open your stance? Not Chanderpaul open, just a little. The balls you feel you need to close the face, all of a sudden you're cracking down the ground with a straight bat. You have the talent, you have shown that in So many videos, it's just the head games now. You Need to believe, we can't do that for you, but we have your back. "Worth" is how much it cost you, or how much effort it takes. I gave up cricket for Years, then played again, and it was Worth it, even the adjustments I had to make, even into my last season, Worth it. No regrets mate, work hard, it's worth it.

Don’t get to down on it bro, we all have seasons where things just don’t click. You are more then good enough to score the runs, don’t let your brain or other people over complicate things for you. I find when in a rough patch remembering that we play the sport for fun and so make sure you enjoy every minute out in the middle rather then worry about your technique or what’s going to happen, stay present and enjoy the moment 🤙🏏

Then you need to look at it, as if you're not batting, or as if you're going to give advise to you're self, if that's not you. Sounds strange, but it works. How are you getting out? Nicking the wide full ball? The short ball? LBW all the time? Be honest, what is the delivery that screws with the technique you currently have. You need to start somewhere, so start there. You Can overcome this, but you need to be honest about it.

@@francoiscoetzee1686 Sounds like it's not a stance issue. Well, a good comfortable stance is important. But it seems like you are right, it's your bottom hand. There are 2 reasons for that (more than 2, but lets start with basic and go from there). I had the Same issue. What helped me was some sessions with a bowling machine. If you can't get access to one, find people who can do accurate 'throw downs'. Because you are going to practice the drive, Exclusively. That's where your issue lies, so that's where you need to focus. Part of this, as boring as it sounds, is Leaving the ball, where the hell are your stumps... You need to feel confident on the Line of the delivery, this is a Learned thing. The other part is, driving along the ground, and Focusing on that. Not 'booming drives', but Consistently driving along the ground, and learning the length you can, and can't do that... Your bottom hand comes in, due to your nerves, being unsure, practice, practice is the cure. Many Great players are bottom hand dominant, many, but you need to learn Length, where your stumps are, so you can know what to attack, and what to defend or leave. When you're at training, tell the bowlers, "You cam't snick me off with a full ball". I was an opener bowler, I can tell you, I will try to 'snick you off' for the rest of the session... Great practice for you...

Pretty obvious that Gareth's head is falling across the line of the ball. Needs to spend some time on the really basic training drills - stepping into the ball, hitting the ball off a tee, shadow batting in front of the mirror, using a plumb bob line off the helmet etc etc.

Interesting the keep wickets in hand point which is fine if you are above the run rate but you needed a run a ball so patting back 5 overs or so you’d have likely lost by more than you did. It’s like the coach saying play risk free cricket and hit 10 an over, it’s just not realistic
