It’s “no coincidence” there is more extravagant “war talk” as the U.S. is going broke and continues to debase its currency, Matthew Piepenburg, Partner at Matterhorn Asset Management, tells Michelle Makori, Lead Anchor and Editor-in-Chief at Kitco News. Piepenburg weighs in on the current geopolitical tensions and their implications on the global financial system. He discusses the cycle of perpetual warfare, including debt accumulation and currency debasement. He also addresses the weaponization of the U.S. dollar.

Really where are investors putting their cash? Isn’t it crazy how mortgage rates continue to rise with higher imports and declining exports, but the FED is yet to lessen cost. Something will eventually break if they keep raising interest rates and quantitative tightening.

Behold the ledger, burdened, bowed, Where numbers rise, a swelling cloud, Debt's weighty hand, a shroud, Obscuring futures, once endowed. A nation's coffers, drained and dry, Echoes of spendthrifts' heedless cry, In deficit's grasp, we lie, Bound to cycles, where woes amplify. From distant shores to homeland's plain, The toll of debt, a haunting chain, In shadows cast, we seek to feign, But truth's harsh glare, shall not wane. Wars waged not with steel, but debt, A battleground where powers fret, Inflation's specter, a silhouette, Looming large, with no regret. Crises breed in fertile soil, Where debts compound, and tempers boil, In cycles vicious, we toil, Yet solutions elude, despite our moil. Beware the sirens' sweet allure, Of spending more, of promises sure, For debts amassed, shall endure, A legacy tainted, stark and impure. Let history's lessons, be our guide, In fiscal prudence, let us confide, For futures bright, must not be denied, By debts unchecked, where dangers hide.
