Since about 1916, Mandates were established by France and Britain, while semi-autonomous governments were formed - which later became Nations with UN Recognition. Since nationhood & institutions have long been consolidated - it would not be feasible to change this back!

Beside the UN is a misnomer, there is no such thing as “United” nations, with the most powerful members have veto rights to reject any proposed treaty that would not be in the interests of one of these members. The most recent vote on the establishment of a sovereign nation of Palestine is a clear example of this. The UN is a toothless house cat, not even a tiger. PS Turkey just announced the possibilities of joining BRICS. Sounds perhaps like hot air, but who knows. Have you seen Erdogan’s recent comments? He did not look to pleased to say the least.

And i must add that on such a news program as this that Amy Goodman represents what really good news journalism. And i think she is just beautiful too. I am not sure but i was thinking back to when i was younger not a big news watcher but it was on in my home growing up. I was thinking how news casters represented as far as i knew broadcastst could be relied upon and respected. I have not felt that way in a long time now as an older adult. I was thinking of persons like Walter Krokite especially. Not to compare him but i feel that all at Democracy Now hold a responsibility and respect for their viewers and it shows. Reminds me if broadcasters like a Walter Kronkite.
