Have 5 XE75s all hardwired back haul. Best WiFi investment ever. For the first time I have complete coverage house wide on 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. Only downside for me thus far is the ability to select a device within the App/GUI and force it to stay on either 2.4 or 5ghz bands. Obviously 6ghz too if device is capable & already on that band. The app is perfectly built to add that feature. Also it would be nice to fix a device to a specific mesh unit, sometimes a device may switch to a less efficient AP at further distance.

Bought a 2-pack of these a week ago. Don't know why I never upgraded my wifi eons ago because I'm getting 3x throughput on my intranet and much better speeds to/from the internet. So far only had the mesh deco unit drop out once for about a 1 minute, otherwise it's been incredibly stable.

I have a lowly Deco M4 setup and found that wireless and wired speeds suffered greatly if wireless backhaul was being used (through the master Deco to the ISP). Wired backhaul saw my throughout almost double. Maybe the triple wifi in these XE75s means wireless backhaul now doesn't affect fronthaul performance, but odd that wired performance was affected as well.

Hi Steve! As always, another interesting, well down and informative video. I always learn something when I watch your videos. My questions revolve around the square feet coverage of these units. You had mentioned that the pro version covers about 5000 SF. How accurate are those numbers in your estimation? Are they at least close? And, is there a huge drop-off at the outer edges of that coverage? I don't have much of an issue because my house is less than 2000 SF and all on one level. I currently have an old Orbi mesh system that has been fine, but I feel like I should upgrade. Also, I have an xfinity router with wifi built in, which I use. Does it make sense to upgrade my mesh system and use that instead?

For clarification, the XE75 will be limited by its 1 Gigabit Port, the Pro will be able to handle up to 2.5 Gigabits, they do not have the same speed as you mentioned. If someone has an internet plan that is over 1Gbps they will be sorely disappointed by the regular XE75

Hi Steve, nice intro video on the Deco. I do find it a bit hard to believe you are happy with half the speed you are paying for - sure you can do better ;) I would like to see how these speeds differ with dedicated backhaul. Some questions for the follow up video perhaps - Can you add a third unit for a larger house? Some mesh wifi combo units like Amplifi are paired and can't be mixed so you have to buy the individuals to set up more than 2 units. Can you set up a dedicated 2.4GHz IoT network and what specifically do you gain with the paid subscription? Might also be nice to run an OpenSpeedtest to a device on the local network in addition to an Internet speed test. Thx.

Hey Deon, I'm happy with anything over 500 Mbps over WiFi. :) My PC is hard wired in and i'nm getting closer to 950 Mbps Up and Down. 1. Yes you can easily add additional satellites to add to your current setup and extend your range. 2. This device does not have a dedicated SSID for IoT devices. However, you can use the Guest network for this. 3. Here's a link to show what you get with the paid Home Shield subscription - www.tp-link.com/us/homeshield/ 4. I'm not familiar with OpenSpeedTest but i love the idea of running a local network speed test. I'll post those results on my Instagram. :)

I think is a better option nowadays to have an Omada setup instead of these Deco devices. You can have a mesh config (in case you want a mesh network), with full business configuration, many SSID, all VLAN you want and VPN. Ubiquiti is also a good choice but is more expensive and the products are harder to find on stock.

The bad thing about these decos is that the 2.4 and the 5 GHz are combined and you cannot separate them. This is bad for older devices that need the 2.4 ghz like the ring cameras and nest devices. I know as I just had issues with those devices. I didn’t have that issue with my AMPLIFI Alien router.

The ET8 is not the quite the same, for around the same price as it's two pack you get a 3 pack of the TPLink, and the ET12 is significantly more money (~$750) for the difference in price you get another access point and could pay for nearly 7 years of the subscription to the advanced security features. No thank you to either option, and i'm a big Asus fan personally but that's just an insane amount of money to get "the same features".
