What would recommend to extend WiFi from inside the house to the outside backyard so we can use our outdoor projector it’s about 80 ft from the router in the house
@UltimateTechHub
@UltimateTechHub Ай бұрын
Add another node from that matches your current wifi system and place it outside under the patio near the projector. Those nodes are pretty tough and unless they get rained on they should be ok. I've used mesh nodes under my back patio many times. Otherwise, you can run ethernet through conduit to the projector and plug in a node. It really depends on how far each node is from the other node. It's like a relay between nodes. Keep me posted.

I recently moved back home with my parents. 5 people in the house, I literally just bought TP link 75xe and will be picking it up tomorrow. The house is large. Hoping I can do the HomeLab of running Cat6 cable around the house after I get more money to do that (watched a lot of your video today and were very helpful and informative. Very very excited to do it this year). Will I be okay with the TP 75xe? I tried my be to do a lot of research and the budget. Got it for $249. We have a lot of Device including gaming devices. I’m the tech guy of the house so I’m trying my best.

Honestly I’d be cautious about the orbi’s since they’re owned by netgear. Maybe it’s just me, but all the netgear equipment I’ve owned starts to perform poorly after a year of ownership

The more I watch these things, the more confused I get. We used to have a router and a booster that came with it and that worked just fine. After changing broadband provider, I am supposed to be getting 500 mb/s, but in the next room it goes down to about 18 mb/s, and zero in some parts of the house. I got an extender, but that made it even worse. I called the provider and they said that a mesh system would be too complicated, but I can't find anything that doesn't include the word 'mesh'! I don't want to spend a lot of money just to find it doesn't work. I don't need any apps or alexa - I just want to be able to watch TV/use my PC.

If your home is small then you don't need a mesh system, just a good wireless router. What are you using in the next room that gets 18 mb/s? If your home is large then a mesh system is the way to go. The Netgear Orbi is really awesome and speeds are really fast. TP-Link is also good and works right out of the box with very little setup. Mesh systems are NOT complicated trust me. Wi-Fi extenders are complete crap so get your money back. ( I've tried extenders and they are awful! ) Keep me posted and feel free to ask any questions. 😉

Hi man thanks a bunch for the video. Im getting "free" mesh for my home from my ISP due to issues with our connection but ive heard its not good for gaming and adds a bunch of additional latency. Wondering what your take on it was. I do have a powerline for temp use case since my wireless latency was truly unbearable but id prefer to go back to my original DL/UL soon. Also do you think there is a difference if i shove an ethernet cable from one of the mesh points to my PC by putting the mesh in my room?

Hi! Thank you so much for this informative video. I have the deco m5 ac1300 mesh wifi. got it around 2 yrs ago. I’m thinking of getting another one from the same brand for compatibility but just can’t decide what the best and cheapest option would be for a small dead spot area in the house (maybe 20sqm?) that would be compatible for the 3-pack deco m5 that I already have. Hoping for your suggeations. Thank you!!
@UltimateTechHub
@UltimateTechHub 2 ай бұрын
The Deco M5 is a Wi-fi5 mesh system and you would be better off with a wi-fi6 or wi-fi6e system and that's probably why you have some dead zones. The TP-LINK DECO X20 which is the first mesh system on my list would be my top choice for your situation. Its only $139 and its wi-fi6 and covers up to 5800 sqft. Wi-Fi5 is really outdated especially with security and reliability. The product link is in the description of the video and checkout the Amazon reviews. This model has over 13,455 reviews with mostly 5 and 4 stars. That would be my choice. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!

@@KayeAnnUmaliIf you are still in the market and on a budget, you could try purchasing a single X20 and make that the ‘main’ wired router. Then network your two older units to it as access points via the mesh WiFi. TP Link claims the systems are backward compatible.

I am amazed that you are getting that kind of speed. I have the 75Xe pro as well and ready to use for target practice. I have 1000 mbs coming in and lucky if I get 60 mbs out. Plus I have a couple of devices that linked once and dropped out after a day or two and now will not let me set up again. TP-Link is looking into it but I may be dead by that time. Ready to look for another company which actually has decent support as it is a shame as I have their cameras and other devices that work flawlessly.

I used Amplifi HD for a long time and it was clean and stable. "Updated" to a triple of Deco EX75-Pro with a X50-Outdoor, well, outdoors... OMFG I'm so annoyed with it. I'm not sure if it's the 1.2.5 firmware (hardware version 1.6) but I have an issue where it drops many IOT devices every-stinking-day. I go from 48 clients to 8... I've manually rolled back to firmware 1.2.3 and am seeing if that is stable, but my God, I'm so frustrated that TP-Link's now sour to me. I may say screw it and eBay the lot, pick up another new system entirely.

I know we've seen major price increases across the board due to inflation. Yet I've been divorced from the cost of home routers/switches/WAPs/Mesh. Currently I pay Verizon a $10 monthly fee for my CR1000B with 1 - 10GE port auto sensing, 2 - 2.5GE ports auto sensing and Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E. Plus 2 extenders. For the $10 I pay per month, I don't see anything comparable unless I get into the Netgear Orbo at 1499 or the TP-Link at 1299. Please comment if I am wrong. While I am not a fan of renting these units, I am happy that Verizon FIOS ships me new routers/extenders when they upgrade. If you agree that the FIOS routers/extenders are good, I would only need to upgrade my wiring and my switches. In my re-design of my home network, I am planning on a core 8 port switch with a secondary 4 port switch off the core switch. I just need to figure out which 8 port managed switch I'll get the core. Recommendations would be wonderful.

@UltimateTechHub

It might improve the throughput and performance but there are other factors like router locations, type of router, settings on the router and possible Wi-Fi signal interference. If you optimize the locations and router settings it should help your wifi performance. Which CISCO routers are you running?
