Thawra.. (Revolution). On October 17, 2019 the people of Lebanon took to the streets to fight for their basic human rights.
The normalized daily life of the average Lebanese family includes limited electricity, crumbling healthcare, and a nonexistent future for an entire generation of children. The devaluation of the Lebanese pound has caused many to make the choice of whether to buy milk or to pay for electricity.
The mobilization of youth demanding basic rights with no foreign political intervention had led corrupt political parties to make the excuse of how embassies are funding the revolution. This sparked a violent response from the corrupt government and ruling political parties.
Join journalist and political activist Rania Khalek on Thursday December 2nd at 4pm EST to discuss how corruption and greed have led to the deterioration of Lebanon.
Moderated by Norhan Alshihabi (Legislative Intern of MAPA).

Thanks so much. As an expat living in Lebanon I try to convey the sitch to homefolks and your work is really helpful. Do you have an email where I can thank you directly? Your DMs are not open on twitter.

Who would have thought that the West would destroy Lebanon... Well, now that's what is happening

Lebanon's main problem is its economic policies, just like it destroyed Africa, state interventionism ruined Lebanon, if people produced stuff and had normal jobs, it would be far less important what sect you are as you'd get all you need on the free market. Subsidies sound good on paper but they just foster smuggling and corruption.

Norhan Alshahabl, after all the explanations that Rania issued, that was not a smart question from you!😨🤮🥵 So, you’re worried about Hezbollah and Iran working together for Labonan ‘s sovereignty but you didn’t mention about all those rogue interferences by other forces there!! USA, Europian countries, Saudi, Qatar , golf Emirates, Turkey and of course Israel! 😱😳☹️🤣 Norhan go study for your job!! You are WAY apart upon those issues , and it is badddd.😳😞😟😏😨😣😖😰
