Hey Fiction Beast, I'm glad you're having fun ... educating us children: @1:10 "The French were rationalists who would put on their perfumes to seduce one another." Brilliant summary - thank you.

This classification oversimplifies the subject, and the unification under the heading 'German' appears superficial. Moreover, condensing such complex topics into just 45 minutes compromises the rigor that is the hallmark of 'Fiction Beast'. Would love to hear your thoughts on postmodernism.

Thanks for your feedback. I tried to cover as much ground as possible in the allotted time. This is a big picture summary so the purpose is not nuanced but an overall macro take.

0:01 Four interesting figures here… three knew nothing of science, and one knew nothing of philosophy… but great choices, over the likes of Schopenhauer, Kant, Hitler and Hegel. Well done already 👏

Jewish isn't German. German is German. Not knowing the difference is like discussing bowling balls and toothpaste as the same subject.
@schaumwolke6062Күн бұрын
Well, some groups where more endogamous and some a more exogamous. For instance, Einstein was Jewish, but it ment just a bit for him and his family lived for more than a century in Germany, only their faith was differnt.

That's ridiculous, you can't categorize an individual in a box like that, anyone can have multiple cultural identities influences at the same time. Having german as your mother tongue means already thinking in a certain way and reading mostly german-language (and thus german, which isn't so precise as a cultural identity) books. It seems obvious to most sane human beings

What do you mean? Depending on how you use the word, jewish is either a religious or ethnic description, both of which are compatible with being of german nationality. Of what nationality would you describe Karl Marx as, for instance, if not German?
