That card game analogy is perfect, incredibly instructive. I play a lot of trading card games, and a lot of the strategic concepts of chess do carry over. Timing, move order, passive vs active, real threats vs empty threats, etc.

Yesterday I had the same position as white after 4... Qh4. I stupidly played 5 g3! Afterwards I analysed my game and the best move for white is 5 Be3. Daniel played Qf3 which is probably the second best. 5 Bxf7 is another alternative. After 5.. Kxf7, you can play 6 Qd5+ Ke8 and 7 g3 and pick up the knight after the queen has moved.

It's funny to think about how screwed his opponents are in these games. Even if the opponent did make it out of the opening up a pawn or something, he would still get crushed. Instead he lost his knight out of the opening and then got crushed.
