It's always good to reevaluate your processes like measuring and cutting accurately to get a better outcome. I remember when I first started quilting (completely self taught), I never squared up my blocks and couldn't figure out why my quilts never quite worked out! Thanks for making a clear and concise video!

Glad this was helpful, Maryanne! With this many FG blocks measuring needed to be accurate. Wait until you see the finished quilt - it's gorgeous! Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Thank you. I think we all struggle with HST and flying geese. Be well.

You're right, Teri! Triangles present a challenge because they are on the bias which can be fussy. The biggest obstacle is understanding how to confidently trim them. That will definitely be a segment in my next video. With about 200 flying geese waiting to be sewn, I'll have a lot of hands on experience to share. 😊 Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Use Deb Tucker's flying geese tool. Puts the accuracy and speeds up the process.

Sounds like I need to check that out, Sharon. Thanks for the suggestion. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

You don't need a special tool for this?! Love this method. I got a chart on the internet which gives "exact" or "oversized" measurements. The oversize is 1/8" larger for trimming. A square 4 1/2" ruler helps if you're making 2x4's. I've made a few quilts with all different size geese. So fast and easy!

There are special tools for this, Jill, but I don't use one. I find it easier to add a bit extra to the cut size and trim where needed. You're right about square rulers, they can be a big help for trimming! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Great tips. I don't really see how the wing clipper would be that much better.

That's a tool I haven't used, Darlene. Increasing the size of the small square does the trick for me. I have about 200 more flying geese to make this week and I'll let you know what I think after that! 😊 Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Using Deb Tucker's ruler and method is so much better than this. Easier, and consistently accurate.

That's not a ruler I've tried. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
