Master Lock 175 - Bypass

A VERY handy trick to add to your Tactical Lock Picking goodie bag.
Video 2 in the series, a direct bypass using a slim profile tool to manually manipulate the latch locking lever. Whether with a professional tool or materials at hand this is easily achieved. *Warning: this will work on many M175's and M178's but will not work on every lock of that type or similar type.

I have seen many people do this bypass and I was never able to get it on any 175 I tried it on, until last night after watching your video. I don’t know it felt like you explained it better than I’ve heard before, so thanks for the explanation

I made a bypass tool with a bobby pin. It was too thick even after removing the rubber nub, so I sanded it down to half the thickness and put a few layers of shrink tube on the opposite end for grip. Got a ML 176 with that. Then I made a shank out of a 0.06 feeler gauge. Glued a piece of zip tie on each side and used shrink tube over that for a handle. Decodes really well.

Bought a 175 last week (rather work bought it) the gaps between wheels are tighter but the bypas still works. It just took more force to get my shim in.

Spork Sabre it’s usually the top left of the third number, sometimes if THAT slot is too tight try the top left of the second number ;)

theres def some practice needed with these. I have a newer lock identical to the one shown at 6:20 and I'm struggling with it

I was given a 178 a while ago. Outside looks barely used. No code. I can bypass it with the EZ Decoder and also a Bobby pin if you pull off the round and go over the front of the wheel. Can't decode though! I've tried a soda can shim, EZ Decoder and even a shim made from one of the little security tags. I can't feel any gates or pick up on any drag or movement when rotating the wheels. Tolerance is also very tight. Do you happen to know if these were updated internally at all? Have you been able to decode your 178? Thanks!

As far as I know if the lock is bypassable in this manner you can use a soda can sliver, but if you mean a top-down shim of the locking mechinism like with commercial metal shims and their soda can improvised counterpart, than I think that one is a no. :)

Do you push on the lock first or after you get the tool in

Step one, insert tool to correct position. Step two, hold shackle closed. Step three, pivot the tool to lift the internal mechanism - and hold. Step four, release the shackle.

Any advice on getting this technique to work? I have the sparrows mini decoder, and it broke in literally 2 seconds trying this. Still can’t bypass my lock :’(
