Hey there, there's different data types in Make.com (and software engineering). You're probably familiar with a few of them already: 1. text (i.e. this is a string) 2. numbers (i.e. 1, 432) Objects on the other hand is a collection of an assortment of data (i.e. thing about a client who inquires with your business, you'll want to collect their name, email and phone number. This is what a collect like that would look like: { "name": "Jono Catliff", "email": "jono@gmail.com", "phone": "111-111-1111" }). When it comes to collections, you'll need to select the right piece of data within the collection. Hope this helps :)

Jono, great tutorial. I'm 30 minutes in. So many great small details that you're touching on that are impossible to know if you just try to dive in and 'learn it on your own' Example: I'm paused at 31:10 in the video to make this comment. To map the value, I FOR SURE would have just copied "First Name" and assumed it should work. If I got an error from there, I would be frustrated not understanding why. Thanks for explaining you need to drill down to get the value that Make needs to map. Ok, hitting PLAY again to keep going, but thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to make such a valuable free tutorial, i wanted to ask whats the difference between using get in https and a webhook?
@jonocatliff2 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks so much, really appreciate the comment :) This is an excellent question, let me explain. 1. A webhook is like a "live server" on Make.com, always waiting for incoming data. Whenever data is sent, it is automatically received and starts the workflow. 2. A HTTP get request while similar, will retrieve data from another external source, and pull it back into the workflow for you to use (usually mid run). It's not always waiting for new incoming data to start the workflow. For example, let's say that you have a scenario where you need to retrieve data about a particular client from your CRM, such as their phone number, tags, custom fields, etc. You can send a HTTP get request to your CRM, find the information, and then later use that data from the CRM in the rest of your scenario (phone number, tags, etc). There's multiple HTTP request formats (this makes up the backbone of software engineering). GET requests retrieve information, POST requests (like a mailman) send data, PUT requests update data, and DELETE requests delete data (there's many more too). In a nutshell, Make.com modules are all essentially HTTP requests (where you can search info, create info, update info and delete info in addition to other things), it's just that they've done the heavy lifting for you so that you don't have to authenticate yourself, find the right API route, pass in data to the headers or query string, etc. Hope this helps!

Because I work with clients that they submit pictures of some receipts.
@jonocatliff9 күн бұрын
Hey there, here's a recent video I created where I upload files into Google Drive. You don't have to watch the whole thing, maybe just 5 minutes of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2fTmpZ9etiiqpI The steps are the following: 1. Pick a form software that has the ability to accept the filetypes you want to accept (PDFs etc - I think Google Forms should allow you to do this) 2. Depending on which software you use, the file will either be in a URL or something like binary code 3. If it's a URL, you'll need to use an HTTP module to download the file, to turn it into binary code 4. You'll want to use Google Drive to "Upload" a file, and insert in the binary code data, and create a unique name. Hope this helps :)

Hey there! Personally, I use one of three sources. Here's the list in order of most used to least used: 1. custom coded javascript forms (this would only be applicable if you code) 2. Go High Level forms 3. Elementor wordpress forms However, there's many, many different form software applications our there that you could use. Most website builders have their own internal form, or you could try something like Jotform, paperform, etc. Hope this helps!
