Q.1 07:13 Ans. Copper is the preferred wiring for our home over aluminum because of its ease of use and ability to effectively conduct electricity. Remember that aluminium conducts less well when we compare it with copper but copper is comparatively heavier The density of aluminium is only one third of the density of copper so the light weight of aluminium is the main reason for using aluminium instead of copper in overhead connections.

There are two main reasons why overhead power cables are made of aluminium while copper is used in our homes: 1. Weight: Aluminium is significantly lighter than copper. This is crucial for overhead power lines because the weight of the cables puts a strain on the towers and support structures. Using lighter aluminium cables reduces this stress and allows for longer spans between towers, making construction and maintenance more cost-effective. 2. Cost: Aluminium is much cheaper than copper. While copper offers better conductivity for the same size wire, the cost advantage of aluminium outweighs this benefit in long-distance power transmission. Additionally, the larger diameter needed for aluminium to achieve the same conductivity as copper still results in a lighter overall weight. 7:19 7:27

17:14 Silver is indeed the best conductor of electricity, but there are several practical reasons why copper is more commonly used for electrical wiring: 1. **Cost**: Silver is significantly more expensive than copper. The cost difference makes copper a much more economical choice for most applications, especially when large quantities of wire are needed. 2. **Availability**: Copper is more abundant than silver, making it more readily available and easier to source in the quantities required for electrical wiring. 3. **Mechanical Properties**: Copper has excellent mechanical properties for wire manufacturing. It is ductile and can be easily drawn into thin wires without breaking. While silver also has good mechanical properties, the cost and availability factors make copper more practical. 4. **Corrosion Resistance**: While silver does tarnish when exposed to air (forming a layer of silver sulfide), copper also forms a protective oxide layer when exposed to air. This oxide layer prevents further corrosion, making copper wires durable in most environments. 5. **Applications**: Silver is often used in specialized applications where its superior conductivity is critical, such as in certain electronic components, high-end audio cables, and connectors. However, for general electrical wiring in buildings, appliances, and other common applications, copper provides a good balance of conductivity, cost, and practicality. Overall, while silver's superior conductivity is advantageous, the practical considerations of cost, availability, and suitable properties make copper the preferred choice for most electrical wiring needs. 17:15

Cooper wire has low level of resensitivity and also good conductor of electricity. Aluminium has 61% of copper conductivity . The cross section area of an element in conductor should be 56% largest then copper to carry the same cutting the need of to increase the thickness of aluminium wire restrics it used in many appliance such as small motors and automobiles. It is also cheaper than copper.

Sir ...why is tin not present in the reactivity series of metals ?...and also some websites mention carbon in the reactivity series ......and sir how to remember this chemical reactions...for exams ?

17:20 We don't use silver for wiring because it may not be economical to use silver for electric purposes. Also it oxides' easily when it comes in contact with air and it tarnishes.

Because silver is very costly but copper and aluminium has low cost which is easy to purchase

We cannot use copper wires at overhead powers because they are more expensive than aluminium whereas aluminium wires are not used at home because copper wires have good conductivity of electricity than aluminium. Hence, aluminium are good to use outdoors instead at home and copper wires are good for wiring at home Thanku sir for your best explanation🤗🤗

we dont use silver as the wires because it is very expensive compared to other metals like aluminum and copper...^^ very nice explanation thank u so much^^

Silver are cheap too use in metal compare to gold for reflection

Also that they are soft and have to be alloyed with copper for a longer time durability

Stability: Aluminum wire is very easy to fabricate, thus making the resistance large, reducing the weight of the wire, and posing a safety risk. But copper is the stability of the core

Aluminium wire will be much thicker but it will be lighter compared to copper since the density of aluminium is only one third of that of copper. The conductivity to weight ratio of aluminium is better than that of copper that is why we prefer aluminium in overhead power connections.

17:19 we dont use silver wires even though it is the best conductor of electricity because it is an expensive metal so instead of using silver we use copper to make electric wires
