Aziz and Chris Rock have been friends for a long time. I've seen old interviews where Aziz and Chris mention about them hanging out and even sharing jokes. For example, they talk about how they both came up with the "Sting" joke together, while chatting with each other about how easy musicians have it compared to comedians.

Don’t know how people didn’t enjoy season 3. If you’ve seen art house films or anything experimental you’ll realize that this was an artistic triumph. It’s so hard to tell a potent story with no camera movement, yet they killed it. The few moments we had of Dev were tragic, we learned things didn’t work out with Francesca and his career! Loaded with emotion, and that’s not counting the actual love story of the season. It’s a huge accomplishment for me.

Yes I wanted to see Aziz more but season 3 was great regardless. It is like he almost tricked us into watching this story of 2 women struggling in a relationship, birthing, everything. I went in with completely different expectations and I would have never watched a show with this premise knowingly. Not because I am racist or phobic but because I'd think that I won't relate to it all and there is more stuff to watch out there. But Aziz did such an amazing job. He just exposed that underneath all relationships are sort of the same, we all make similar mistakes, have similar life struggles. We are all human. Those IVF episodes were so heartbreaking yet real. And the ending just blew me. Thanks for making me watch this unexpected story. I wouldn't have otherwise and I'm better off now having watched it. :)

Though the third series was well-acted, beautifully shot, and very moving, it was NOT Master of None. The entire energy was so far removed that I could hardly regard it as part of that IP - if Aziz had named it "X: A Master of None Story" or some such, to show this is a spinoff and to temper expectations accordingly, I would have genuinely enjoyed it more. But for me, I entered expecting a rollercoaster of emotions, humour, clever pastiches and scenarios about class, sexuality, race, romance and just ageing in a big city with the occasional heavy hammer blow of reality (as I did with every preceding episode), but instead I was met with this brutal, raw, uncompromising and depressing negativity, a five-part serial of the cruel downward spiral of a relationship with zero levity. To me, as a separate piece, I could have really enjoyed it. But expecting Master of None, this was a real disappointment.
@agustinpino42483 жыл бұрын
it is though, the season is called "moments in love". every episode is titled "moments in love, chapter x", it does have that distinct separation that you want
@SigmaLongshot3 жыл бұрын
@@agustinpino4248 But it’s literally marked as “Master of None: Season Three”, which implies that it’s a continuation of both the narrative and the IP, which arguably, it isn’t.

@@SigmaLongshot yeah for sure, it caught me off guard just like everyone else. Although, it does have a distinct separation. Maybe not as much as you wanted, and it would have prevented this sort of twist, but it’s still a separation. Nevertheless, I do get what you mean.
