2:45 This shot is gold. That sweat drop makes him look like he's crying for the poor fish.

Well, that poor fish was actually Spotty, a young fish that he considered his friend.
@homeboidaboy29416 ай бұрын
I like how spottys corpse changes color when he falls into the sink with the other dead fishes. It's as if flatfish saw him as the spotty he knew at first, a friend, but as he falls he becomes just another dead fish on the pile. Like the friend himself disappeared and all that was left was a pile of flesh that looked like him.

For those who didn't get it. Correct me if wrong... Spoiler Old flatfish's view clashes with Padak's. His view is to just survive and be smart in a situation you can't escape from. Padak rebells this view through the film and tries to escape for freedom to go home (sea). When he finally sees the kitchen, he realizes he didn't want to die and wants to escape. Seeing the little one died trying to find help in a crab tank and looking at the flashback to his question "survive and then what?" Made him realize no matter how long you survive, there are ONLY 2 escape routes. Death or getting out of the tank. This further emphasis in the last hand drawn animation with him and Padak (throughout the film there are some hand drawn animation that goes with a song number). Him and her swimming/singing together mean they now see eye to eye and have a common goal to escape. This also sadly reflects a grim foreshadow of things to come when the little one said earlier about how they can all die together to escape the tank.

I Still Don't Really Get Master Old Flatfish's Defeat
@garethbuensuceso70692 жыл бұрын
His view of surviving clashed with Spotty's view of living. He was hell bent on it, and it worked out for him but as Spotty said, if he survived, then what? Will he keep doing it just to escape death? When Old Flatfish saw with his own eyes the fates of those caught, his view of just surviving long, no longer seems a good plan. Probably for the first time in a long time, he wanted to live. He doesn't want to escape death, he wanted to live free from the horrors of what awaited him should he get caught. No more hiding just to survive another day. That's his defeat. His view had lost against Spotty's. To live, rather than to survive.

@@tomcsikaorgovan5130 No they aren’t. They have different languages and writing systems. Japan is an archipelago while Korea is a peninsula. Completely different names and cultures. To call Japan and Korea the same is extremely ignorant let alone stupid. That’s like saying Italians and Spanish people are the same. Matter of fact, the cultural divide and history of both countries is causing conflict among them today. Japan earned the Chinese writing system by travel through the Korean Peninsula, which is what we call Kanji. Japan’s writing system was made to fit Japan while Korea’s writing system was made to be easy for everyone to learn and read. If they were the same they wouldn’t be called either Korean or Japanese. They would have both been called one.
