Hi the current EY3 is not compatible with the EY4 SMART DISPLAY.

To change the lights, you need the new controller. Installing or retrofitting the throttle on models without the standard EY4 doesn't enable light adjustments via the app.

I’m on hour 7 now. The process where he organizes the wires on the bottom next to the dualtron LEDs is critical. I’m the video he did it in a few minutes. This has been such a terrible headache for me and I’ve given up because I cannot tuck the wires in tight enough to screw it down

You forgot it only works ’as intended’ on 2-3 of the newest models, the rest is just for Minimotors to experiment on. After a year, the app, bluetooth and range function is yet to work. For now, it’s just glorified plastic with a shitty display quality. 👎
