I will say I hate the term “fleece” I’m in 5 leagues, and ya winnings the best, but having great relationships with your leauge mates is the value noone talks about, and keeping good business. I’ve made some downright trades that were foolisisj at the time, and my leauge mates I made trades with tried to talk me off of some because it was a bad deal for me at the time, but I had to go get my guy. Been in leagues with people who try and fleece, pull a fast one, and those leauges don’t last, it’s the one with good relationships that have lasted and the ones that try and fleece tend to find themselves out of the leauge within a year because they don’t like we try and do fair business. And those are the funnest leauges

Awesome content and excellent advice. I started taking on rebuilds 3 years ago, and negotiating 1-3 years free buyin depending on how bad the team is. I've learned to do exactly what is being discussed here. First thing I do is down tier any studs and see what value I can exrtract from Vets. It's also important to note, if you can't find the right deal - you don't have to trade. Sure holding a player is a little riskier with the threat of injury, but I'm not shipping Chase for Davante and a late 1st bc it's the best offer I got... I also think it's important not to send blind offers. I try to engage with the owner and discuss needs and try to get an idea of how they value players. I've scooped up a lot of Anthony Richardson this way at the beginning of the offseason before he started getting hype again.

I’m seeing this fields is worthless narrative everywhere to the point that I feel being contrarian will be the correct move. Look, the he got traded “for a sixth” narrative just lacks context. First, it was a conditional pick that’ll turn into a 4th if he plays any meaningful time this season. Second, his actual value in the nfl from a trade perspective was completely shot because the rest of the league knew unequivocally that the bears were going to draft Williams. There was no posturing or mystery there. He was about to be a back up and other teams knew the bears weren’t going to retain him and were effectively forced into getting rid of him. I.E. the bears had zero leverage on the open market for an asset the league knew was being moved no matter what. So with that in mind, you also have to consider his current upside if he can simply become a somewhat competent pocket passer. Something he can absolutely learn how to do in Pittsburgh. His athleticism is off the charts, he throws a good ball when he’s clear and when Russ struggles late this season there will be a huge push to see if fields can be a stop gap for a year or two. And if you’re in a SF league especially, a 25 26 or 27 3rd is worth a shot on a career resurgence. He’s still only 25 and this is the only year he’s been with a competent coaching staff on his career. Additionally, he is (right now) a better qb than Danny dimes, Carr, most of the broncos qb room, possibly the Vikings entire qb room, possibly the panthers entire qb room. He will have opportunities in the future. Buy fields and hold him. Because when he’s out there on the field in week 15 and has 100/2 rushing and throws a 60 yard bomb to Pickens his value is going to skyrocket on hype alone. And if he finishes this season as the starter you’ll be able to flip him for crazy value heading into 2025. Thanks for attending my TED talk. TLDR; fields is THE quintessential type of player you should be gambling on in SF dynasty formats.

That is indisputable fact, Lawrence is going to get a 2nd contract for good money, and Justin Fields is worth a 6th round pick according to NFL teams. There was absolutely no market for him.
