This is by far the most underrated channel on KZbin. I've learned more in the past 45 minutes on this channel than hundreds of other videos combined

All of those are mandatory tasks for bsac divers, I'm pleased to say. And I'm fortunate enough to be really comfortable in the water.

So true! I'd love to share this to all my students! Sometimes we call it basic 6 (put mask clearing and mask replace separately for beginners), once they feel comfortable doing those, challenge them to do those with one hand. Very informative video, thank you!

Watching your videos and divers is just so inspiring. You do such a good job of relaying quality information concisely and effectively while demonstrating absolutely pristine diving technique. It’s actually hard to watch other diving channels now. Thank you!

Where did you stow the long hose after the S drill? It was too easy! It would be great to know as in Nordics with thick gloves it's hard to stow it using the bands on the tank
@flowstatedivers9 ай бұрын
Initially we use the hose retainer bands on the tanks, once you deploy the long hose and want to restow its legitimate to pull it back under your waist just as shown on the video. it will be perfectly streamlined while you are maintaining proper trim during your dive.

Good video, Is this skill the same as utd scuba diving basic6? I think utd basic6 is the best technology with minimal operation and consistency.
@flowstatedivers9 ай бұрын
Not exactly the same but close. Both GUE and UTD promote a fairly similar set of basic skills but hey.. at the end of the day, these are common skills for anyone, regardless of how we call it.

In GUE we call it Basic-5, it's a bit different but 80% the same. we didn't practise the regulator recovery step.

Have you ever been in an actual out of gas emergency where you had to share with your buddy? From the stories I've heard, it's never a calm "good fella, i'm out of gas, would you mind sharing yours with me, please?" it's almost always violent and ugly.

@ABCDiver yes it is and we detail this in our out of gas video. Have a look

Yes, who ever invented that one had to continue exhaling when removing a regulator from the mouth at the same depth? Make no sense, see pressure law.... Ah, maybe free flow in the mouth....🤣🤪🙃

PADI teaches that crap "never hold your breath"... utter nonsense
@MCLuviin9 ай бұрын
PADI teaches it because newbies tend to not be in perfect trim and bouyancy and shoot up. Show me a diver with
@bramsoens11439 ай бұрын
@@MCLuviin It has nothing to do with the diving federation, but everything to do with "talking it into someone in an Indonesian bar" by an instructor who has to make a turnover. That's where things go wrong, right!

@@MCLuviin Don't mention the war... ”drysuit diving incident”
@flowstatedivers9 ай бұрын
@@MCLuviin The issue is that most students are rushed in to skills before being able to maintain their buoyancy. All our beginner divers are able to establish / control their buoyancy and trim within their first 3-5 dives because they start out diving correctly weighted and learning to manage their buoyancy by breathing only - is the only thing we focus on before progressing to anything else. It's just matter of approaching training differently

One huge mistake: You should ALWAYS check a reg before breathing from it with the purge button to see if it works
@flowstatedivers9 ай бұрын
You check your regulator before starting your dive as part of the pre-dive check. On sidemount for instance, you switch regs non-stop during the dive. No point in purging it before switching simply because if there's a problem, you switch back to the working one, signal your team and handle the situation appropriately.
@rolandvavrek9419 ай бұрын
That’s the situation that you should try to avoid, when you realize it’s not working when you already exhaled to clear it and then can’t breath in. Although I’m not a sidemount diver, I dive with them and they always check the regs. I dive doubles, if I’m practicing drills, I always check the backup before breathing from it as well as stage cylinders although I checked them before the dive. I see your point with constantly switching in sidemount, but I think it’s a really small thing to do which adds a lot of safety to your diving in case of a real emergency, which may never come
@mikoajseostianin54519 ай бұрын
I would not do that in 2 degree celsius water
@flowstatedivers9 ай бұрын
@@rolandvavrek941 There isn't a single legitimate scenario which by you would not be able to breathe from your previously working reg during a dive unless you completely ran out of gas (totally preventable). IF you happen to have a catastrophic gass loss on either of your cylinders that's something you will notice hence you wont switch, apart from that the worst can happen is if your regulator will start "wet breathing" due to the mouth piece rupture. What you saying here is a complete overkill and we have never encountered a single sidemount diver that would purge their regs before switching.
@flowstatedivers9 ай бұрын
@@rolandvavrek941 on the other hand, I do agree with you when it comes to twinsets as you could have a multitude of issues - such as an accidental left post roll off that can go unnnoticed and you would end up trying to breathe from a dead regulator but that's not realistically applying to sidemount.
