Thank you again for making us aware of this technique. It makes sense that the sooner we can add proper technique to our piano practice the sooner we will become better pianists.

Ahhh this finally helped get it to sink in ... I've been working on technique with my teacher (I'm early intermediate now and there are some issues) this video really helped get the motion down. I found having my keyboard off (it is weighted) helped, then I could focus on the motion and NOT the sloppy sounds at first, hahaha!

Hi. Thank you for this video! No teacher ever showed this to me. Can you recommend any pianists or videos of pianists who use this technique? Also, is there such a thing as a "Faber Method" sound to playing the piano? I'd like to watch/hear "stirring the pot" used in a piece or performance. I tried to find examples on YT and the internet but when I searched "piano stirring the pot," I got a lot of results for a gym ball exercise.😕

All pianists use this technique to some extent. The elbow HAS to move. It can be very subtle and difficult to see in video (depending on the angle). Here's Tiffany Poon playing Liszt: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5-unGSXpNx5kJY Any piece with arpeggiated and repeating figures moving OUT are usually good examples to see this technique in action.

Oh, and no, not really a "Faber Method" sound. It's more of a teaching approach.

@@PianoRoadmap Wow. Talk about "stirring the pot." Tiffany Poon thoroughly puréed that Liebestraum. Perfect example. Thank you.
