I like all of these units! I think it opens up the army to a couple of different approaches that broadly work. IJ feel like a full faction now. Also, BIG PIG

Bit disappointed the big pig doesn't interact with the old pigs at all, kinda feels like another seperate warclans army now where you go big pigs or old pigs with megaboss.

Big pig's Carve the Path is crazy! Give him the 3d6 charge with warchanter, makr a crazy charge, do the Carve a Path, then make another 3d6 crazy charge, flying over units with 1 and 2 health. Also, you can do this monstruous action as a reaction to being charged yourself!

BIG PIIIIIIIG!!! I've been waiting for something interesting to happen to my orcs ever since GW shut my bonesplitterz in the Harry Potter cupboard under the stairs. Though I've never considered Big Waagh, so maybe I've just been missing out. Whatever happens, my body is ready for it! Rob as always you and your crew are doing the Lord's work!

On 32's I think Stikkas are probably better on units of 20-30. In units of 10 though those Choppers slap.

God I just started a gloomspite gitz army, and now I wanna start an orruk warclans army, should be easy enough with how many kruleboyz are floating around in the dominion set+the new ironjawz that will HOPEFULLY get some nice discount boxes

They are all great units with all great new warscroll and synergy, but they announced said battletome supplements I was expecting a bit more. I guess they'll be more on Thursday with the errata and data.

I'm hoping this year is alot of these kind of things. Second waves for Fyreslayers, KO, Kruleboyz, Giants, Ogors, and Nighthaunt, Range Refreshes for FEC, Skaven, Beasts of Chaos (I know some of this will be the 4 launch).

In big waagh, you could have a unit of 20 ardboyz take an objective, with a swampcalla shaman who keeps casting choking mist at what is in front of them to take an attack from their whole melee profile, which would make the ardboyz even more durable.

Could run a unit of 6 Wierdbrute Wreckers with the Anvilsmasher buff - 36 attacks, mortal wounds on 6s to hit - could do some serious damage into more elite units (if they survive to get within 3 inches for thier ward.... a 5+ save is rough....). If fighting none elite units under 10 models, just leave them with thier normal 6's explode and give the Anvilsmasher buff to someone else - keeps your enemy guessing where the damage is coming from.

I like the hackin krew more than the tuskboss. Tuskboss is locked out of ironjawz command traits/artefacts so you're paying an extra 110 points for slightly more damage, the charge rerolls and a 3+ save. Not sure its worth it when you still want the maw krusha.

and you are paying 90 pts extra for 2 wounds and 2 attacks for the crewed pig. Gouger is the only playable one without knowing the AoR rules really.

@@331jd63d You're paying 90 points for the different Monstrous action. It'll depend on the ruling though, because of the glottkin FAQ it doesn't let you charge if you're within 3" of a unit, but it may have been what they intended (so you can use it to run over screens) which is something ironjawz would really appreciate since they lack tools to reach over the front line.

The changes on ardboyz is sad for big waagh but if you're playing orruks you better be playing them all. Not just kruleboyz or ironjawz. Get your games in with big waaagh right now, which are pretty good with the new battle tactics, then switch to ironjawz. Then hopefully they release something for poor bonesplitterz. Please do something for them. They never get love and it seem like GW doesn't care is they stay or go and that'd be a real shame if they left.

I play ironjawz and play big waargh (more ironjawz than bigwaargh) ard bois big boss doesn't seem worth, that 12inch wholly within is gonna be very restrictive for the shield bash and just seems like a worse verision of the stormcast on death mortals and i havent seen it have any impact on the 5 or 6 games I've played against stormcast. the rally 5+ is good but can only bring 5 bois back max, so i just keep the megaboss or mawkrusher for the mulitple rallies and occasianally go for 3 units tryna res on 6s rather 2 ardbois on 5s ard bois, I reckon are dead at 220pts, due to maw gruntas and gore guntas being conditional battleline and are 170pt and seem to just be better for the points and our 5 man brute squads can now fill the hold objectives for 140pt and are now our best screening unit. Plus hoar frost and hamer units just melt these boys. it wasn't a problem when they were 160pt for 10 and didn't expect them to do damage all the time (keeping one outside 3inches so you could rally on 4+ and have 6 ard bois counter charge with the chanter buff) We just don't have our expendable screens anymore for when the enemy throws a hammer at us which is gonna be the challenging part for ironjawz if we get alpha striked. If the brute ragerz or wrekkas fought on death I'd could consider them, but anything with range/spells or fights first will immediately kill these guys. Brutes with warchanter buff (16a at -1 dam 2 plus 3a at -1 dam 3) will just outclass these guys plus brutes are battleline and can tell 1 wound models no objective for you.

Currently the big pigs charge monstrous action is only legal if the unit he first charged dies from the MW, otherwise he cannot make another charge. Again, this is current RAW

Several mentions on this initial review reminds me why i can't really do tournies. i can never tell the trap units and which unit is utter trash. A lot of times i think a unit is alright to be told it is trash. that said i probably would do the gouger over hacking crew. i'm not sure if 90 points is worth +2 wounds and a chance to do 4 dmg without buffs. The possible really good rend on those 2 attacks could be nice vs some armies. Why the big pigs have no impact hits seems to be a wasted opportunity. The momentum thing really is based on your dice rolls as you lose 2-3 on the dice before you can act again depending if you get double turned or not. the ragerz vs weirdz i was leaning towards the weirdz. i thought the chains with 6 attacks were nice and the chance for 5+ ward. the brute crusha i actually thought was meh. same amount of attacks as mighty gore hacka but 4/4 instead of 3/3 less rend and random dmg which i would prefer fixed dmg amounts. is the mortal wound chance just that good? probably so getting more mortal wound spam seems to be necessary. the ardboyz i was thinking they were the anvil unit so give them spears. the 2 inch reach on big bases seem pretty good as well. it is also in prolonged combats if a unit charges you with spears you get +1 rend to that unit even if you were fighting another unit before. the 4 to hit instead of 3 does hurt. This one seems to be the biggest i don't know what to do. i might make mine spears simply because i can use my existing old ardboyz as choppas. the big boss seems ok. rallying on a 5+ too 2 units you are still bound to the max of 10 wounds from the updated rules. so best you can do is 5 ardboyz. i don't see having more than 1 in a list unless you have a ton of ardboyz.

Ardboyz at 220 for 10 seems a bit much to build around, but not bad, I can't really see going more than that, with such a low bravery. Overall these seem fairly good, although I don't plan on doing anything stupid like spamming big pigs. The Not-So-Big Pig (Gouger) seems like it's the better choice than the one with the Krew. Ardboyz boss looks disappointing to me, but could have some synergy. Tuskboss I think is a waste unless you're doing a gimmick pig army. The Ragerz having a 5+ save is disappointing, and you'd always want the Brute Crusha IMHO (but watch the box will only come with one). Wrekkaz don't seem bad, but the addendum to their ability screams "Bin Guy", as it should have just been 6s are additional hits without the caveat of needing a unit with 10+ models to trigger.

The Tuskboss could be worth it with AoR Artefact and Command trait, I am still clinging on to the hopium. Realistically tho, with current revealed rules gouger is the only decent option.

The Orruk Ardboys Shield Bash rule is going to be annoying just like the Jaw bites from Seraphon, cause you know they'll end up breaking their own core rules and say this is done BEFORE the oppoenent removes their models, which doesn't follow the normal rules of attacking sadly :P

It was always the case wounds are allocated after all of a units attacks are made. (13.3.1) All GW did was clarify in a FAQ the end of fight abilities happen before wound application.

@@piffling2238 yea and you then remove models, after wound allocation, AND then the attack is resolved. That's exactly why Sylvaneth strike and fade doesn't happen until after models have been removed, and also why DoK can hit on death before example Sylvaneth teleports away

​@@MKDietz Sylvaneth's ability specifies after a unit has "fought" in which case wound allocation is part of the fight sequence. DoK's Khaine's Essence occurs from play which during the fight sequence's wound allocation. Seraphon's bite rolls happen after their melee attack rolls. So for a seraphon player it should look like this: Attack sequence for all melee weapons (13.3) Bite Rolls (seraphon warscroll) Then Opponent allocates the wounds. (13.3.1) Then fight ends for that seraphon unit.

@@MKDietz Probably why the FAQ was so important. The intent is clearly to happen before models are removed from play otherwise the wording would most likely have said after a unit has fought, not attacked. Re-reading it I suppose another we it could be interpreted is after the wounds are all allocated the attack sequence is considered over which would > then trigger the Jaws ability > then the models can be removed from play. According to 14.2 models are removed from play after all of the wounds are allocated and all attacks that inflict damage have been resolved. So bites could be happening between allocation and removal. In either case each of these abilities we mentioned happen in different moments in time.

Theory: The Ironjaws supplement is free because it’s just warscrolls. The AoS app offers free access to warscrolls. So they realised too late that they could never charge for the supplement because the rules would all be free on the app anyway. My Tim foil hat is very tight today 😂
