Love this!!!! So organized and love having it all in notes and be able to keep it and look back at what we did. Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it. I love to keep things supple, but I am a total digital hoarder, so I need to make sure they are also easy to find and refer back to... Notes is a great tool for that!

You’ve been very close to a dislike when I heard “I love karaoke”, but your video was so useful that you gained a new like 😉 Getting more serious, I already knew every feature described into your video, but seeing them applied to real use cases is always useful. This is what I really like of your videos, plus you don’t scream, no hype, no click baiting… Keep up the good work!

Once actually traveling I move travel notes from iCloud to the On My Phone folder that way they can be accessed at anytime, no WiFi or cellular needed.
@TheMacWhisperer2 ай бұрын
Smart... but even without the internet you can access your notes in your iCloud account flawlessly. It doesn't take internet to view them... it just won't update them without a connection... so it may not be necessary.

Did not know that Chat GPT results can be imported into Notes this way. This opens up many possibilities. Have you considered doing a Chat GPT episode?
@TheMacWhisperer2 ай бұрын
You're the second person (TODAY) to ask me that. Chances are I will wait until Apple releases Apple Intelligence in September rather than teach GPT now... everything will change about how Apple users use AI and GPT after Apple Intelligence gets fully rolled out. Any OTHER topics you would like me to cover?

Awesome! Wished I had your video 3 weeks ago. I learned if your share the main note only, the links to other notes won’t work for the invited. I had to create a FOLDER 📁 of the TRIP NOTES and share the 📁 folder that contained all the 📝 notes. I made the same type Note for my trip but didn’t think to use chat GPT and some other great tips you shared. My next trips will be even better utilizing your tips. Thanks!

Glad it was helpful! Yes, if you link to shared notes, you have to provide those shared notes to the collaborators. Sharing a folder with your collaborators rather than individual notes will make that process much easier!

Nice video. Thanks. I would link (with the link function) maps directly at the end of the note instead of or in addition to the copied maps of Tokio. I would also link each address to each trip directly in maps. I would delete the link description just to keep it more tidy (because you have linked the website anyway). And I would put every single trip into the mono-styled format to keep them more separated from each other. Just my two cents ;)

Excellent video Dylan. I am a recent convert from windows and am loving the Apple eco system. I do have a problem though at 8:36 on your video you see what looks like a red button to the left of the website which enables you to grab the website link and drag into notes. How do I get this red icon to show in Safari to the left of the URL ? Many thanks.
@TheMacWhisperer18 күн бұрын
So the "button" isn't always a red button. It's called a favicon... it's a small image that shows on the far left side of a website in the address bar, and identifies the website by a small icon. To access it, tap on the website in the address bar at the top of Safari, and you will see it appear to the left side of the address bar. You can just click on that "handle" and drag it into Notes or anywhere easily.

Thank you for sharing this video as it is very useful! I noticed that you used your Mac to do this itinerary. Can you do this in the iPad with the same commands? I was looking at ChatGPT and Notes for iPad and the work environment is, of course, different.
@TheMacWhisperer2 ай бұрын
Not "exactly" the same way, but you could still do it. If you follow these steps on the ipad it should still work. Be sure you are using the ChatGPT app (which will work a little better than the website)... and you should copy and paste images rather than dragging them.... but otherwise it should still work. Let me know if you run into any snags...

Just found your channel and liked and subscribed. Quick Question: when you are viewing a Safari Page and you click and drag the icon in the URL address bar, I do not see the Note you are working on on the screen. How do you get the note to appear as you are dragging the address so you. And then drop it into the note? I realize that you can have both windows on the screen and drag from one to the other, but yours does not show both the Safari and Notes windows when you start the drag. How do you get Notes to appear again when dragging from Safari?

I use a trick called App Swapping which I talk about in my shortcuts video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4m3i5ihrLKIl9U This allows me to use a simple keyboard shortcut to move from one app to another. It's an awesome tip to learn and will save you tons of time!

@@TheMacWhisperer Great! Thanks. Turns out I have a middle button on my Logitech mouse that I have assigned to the App Switcher keyboard shortcut. Love the linking. When you share a note with links, is it necessary to individually share all the linked notes, or does that happen automatically? If I have to share them individually, does the link work for the other person?
@TheMacWhisperer2 ай бұрын
You have to share any linked notes separately. If there are several, I recommend creating a shared folder for you and your collaborators, then you can share the folder once, and just drop any necessary supporting notes into that folder all at once.

Notes vs Pages?
@TheMacWhisperer2 ай бұрын
All right, you got me. Here's my dirty little secret… I pretty much never use pages. I find Word processors almost useless when you really understand how to make the most out of notes. Pages is a great program and all, but on the phone, it looks like crap with me having to pinch and spread to read every little sentence… Meanwhile, notes looks perfect. True, Pages does a better job of managing photos and gives you more formatting control controls, but in most cases it's just not worth the trade-off of needing to use it on a computer or having it be super tiny on your phone. Notes properly resizes depending on what you're using which is super helpful. All right, you got me. Here's my dirty little secret… I pretty much never use pages. None of this is to say YOU shouldn't use Pages... you shoul duse whatever you feel comfortable with... I will stick with Notes.

If you link to other notes in your shared itinerary, will you need to share your linked notes with the others as well?
@TheMacWhisperer14 күн бұрын
Yes, whatever notes are being reference need to be available for the other party. If there’s a lot of them I recommend creating a shared folder and storing all of them in that folder. Then when the other party joins that folder they will have everything they need.

@@philipcolumbus3054 yes, for the most part, since the author was presumably using a 3 day trip to Japan just as an example, but I must say I find the idea of going all the way to Japan and thinking you can see a meaningful part of it in three days a bit crazy.
@philipcolumbus30542 ай бұрын
@@raoulh.4440 For all? If you live in South Korea, a three-day trip to Japan might not be a bad idea. I think you are thinking locally versus globally. Plus, it was used as an example. He didn't need to do a 3-week trip itinerary to demonstrate the concept. While you are correct about a 3 day trip to Japan being foolish for a large majority of humanity, I don't think that is the point of the video.
@TheMacWhisperer2 ай бұрын
I love that my 3 days comment created a conversation here. When I rehearsed the first draft of the video it was a 10 day trip, and it took GPT FOREVER to build the itinerary, so I decided 3 days would be enough to get the point across. I would never go overseas for less than two weeks (unless it was an emergency)... so take the EXAMPLE of 3 days with a grain of salt.... it was just easier to use for the video.
