The basic trick to this one is being heavy but also having a slow fall speed. The lighter they are, the more they'll be launched when they take damage. The faster their fall speed, the quicker they'll fall into the lava and take damage.

This was so well balanced, because the heavier characters with more launch resistance fell more quickly, while lighter characters with slower fall rates launched more easily. This could explain why Jigglypuff won in one of the earlier recordings.

Basically, if the falls too fast, they rack up more damage and could die sooner. However, lighter characters can only afford to hit the lava fewer times to avoid a ko. Best characters in this challenge are the heaviest characters who also fall the slowest.

When all the DLC are available, I’d like this challenge to be done again, but based on the order the characters appear in All Star Smash. (The first four characters doing the challenge would be Mr. Game and Watch, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Mario, the second four would be Luigi, Little Mac, Duck Hunt, and the Ice Climbers, etc.) Also, the Hero from Dragon Quest would be placed with Mega Man, Ryu, and Ken because the second Hero’s debut, Dragon Quest 3 (released 1988) is currently the basis of Hero’s placement in All-Star Smash

There's actually a lot to consider when predicting a winner. Allow me to explain. It all comes down to character weights. Characters like Bowser won't fly as far because they're heavier, but they also fall faster, meaning they'll hit the lava sooner. However, lightweights like Kirby aren't in the safe zone. Even though they fall slower, they also fly farther. I kept these in mind when predicting winners, and I estimate that about 90% of my predictions were accurate.
