Oscar, when I first signed up for the A6 I felt completely out of my element. I was scared of electrical and thought it was something I could never learn or understand. This video, after watching twice a week until my test has turned me into an electrical fanatic. I beg for electrical diags in the shop now because it turns out electrical is easy! I passed my test 43/50 questions. Thank you so much for this video. Thank you for caring about our industry and the techs within it. You’re amazing bro! Thank you.

Does the ASE tell you which questions you got wrong? Many of the certifications I've seen today will not tell you what you got wrong. Which is annoying because perhaps the question is wrong like the mathematics question the SAT had in it for years.

Ya sure current flows pos to ground ?
@MasterAutomotiveTraining4 ай бұрын
According to conventional theory which is what we use on automobiles, yes. Can I prove it? Yes, using an amp probe which has a conventional theory flow arrow, install it backwards against the flow and you'll read negative current. Secondly, this is proved by watching the current from the alternator to the battery showing a negative current flow as now the highest potential is the alternator not the battery. Hope this helps.
@artyfuffkin78054 ай бұрын
@MasterAutomotiveTraining-- all you have to do is amp clamp the neg cables then the pos then crank it. past the starter will be 1/3rd of the amp DRAW ,of the cable supplying power, it's the 1st thing to learn in auto electrics. Also draw the ign coil points condenser wiring ,then TRy to show that working with a pos to neg flow
@MasterAutomotiveTraining4 ай бұрын
@@artyfuffkin7805 I’m not entirely sure if these are questions or if you’re trying to make a different point, but just to clarify, in automotive electrical systems, we typically follow conventional current flow, which means it goes from positive to negative. One of the first things to understand in electrical work is that current is the same on both the positive and negative sides of a circuit. There’s no need to place an amp probe on both sides, as this would cancel out any reading. Also, keep in mind that in-rush current (the initial surge when the starter engages) far surpasses your cranking current, which can be upwards of 120 amps or higher, depending on engine and atmospheric conditions. In a traditional points ignition system, current flows from the battery’s positive terminal, through the ignition switch, into the coil’s primary winding, through the points, and back to the battery’s negative terminal (ground). When the points open, the magnetic field in the coil collapses, creating a high voltage in the secondary winding, which fires the spark plugs. You can also observe this by watching the current ramp on the primary go negative as the primary collapses and becomes the higher potential, being absorbed by the secondary.
@artyfuffkin78054 ай бұрын
Well not sure where you went to school, but I am a master tech 3 decades voted 2yrs mitsu ,nissan ,Volvo, training teach &show/ prove its pos pulling current DC current flows 1 way, the charge wire goes to positive & like I stated the ign coil only works that way ,likely your not quite at the teaching level
@MasterAutomotiveTraining4 ай бұрын
@@artyfuffkin7805 While I respect your experience and background, it’s important to remember that being open to learning and verifying information is key in any profession, especially in a field as technical as ours. Certifications and experience are valuable, but they don’t exempt anyone from being wrong or from needing to update knowledge as technology evolves. The principle of conventional current flow is widely accepted and taught in automotive electrical systems, where current flows from positive to negative. This isn’t just an opinion but is backed by physics and industry standards. If you look up conventional theory, you’ll find the basis of this understanding, which has helped hundreds of my students pass exams and succeed in their careers. That said, based on the inaccuracies you’ve mentioned, I’m not sure you’re currently at a position or level to teach, or even fix cars, effectively. Approaching any subject with an open mind is always beneficial. Speaking from a position of authority without verifying the facts can lead to misconceptions. I hope we can continue to learn and grow as professionals. Good luck with your thought process.

Who says voltage is the pressure? Amperage could be the pressure. When we measure the voltage, it is always flowing, but amperage is not always flowing. In order for a load to work it needs the pressure of Amperage. I just think electrical theory is backwards, just saying.
