This video is meant to be educational. I cover multiple scopes like the title says, if you are looking for a quick fix, or want me to tell you swap these parts and you are done, find another channel, that won’t happen here. I teach how to do things right, NOT how to guess. This is a 20+ minute video that means it’s not a quick fix video, so don’t expect it to be quick.

Doing diagnostics for a long time, here is the best piece of advice learned about 20 yrs back. Always perform an audible relative compression prior to anything. Doesn't matter if its a misfire, feeling of imbalance, or even a tune up. My scope is always on a light rolling cart with the scanner ready to go. If I hear an imbalance, I already know my next path. Saves a ton of time and money from inspecting and checking components that are not the root cause.

Great instruction. I just got my AutepMP408 yesterday and I’ve been playing around with it. One question I have is when do you use the attenuators?
@MasterAutomotiveTraining3 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the new MP408, you'll love it! I contacted Autel asking for math channels hopefully they listen soon! Attenuators are used when connecting to fuel injector, ignition coil or anything that can produce a high voltage spike. For example a fuel injector when the current collapses can spike above 50v, and if your scope is low voltage input can fry the channel. You MP408 comes with a 20:1, means for every 20V in you'll see 1v on your scope screen.

Can i use a pico 600a on a autel maxiscope. And if i can how do i set it up? I get a waveform but its all over the screen.
@MasterAutomotiveTraining2 жыл бұрын
Sure you can, the Pico amp clamp is a BNC connector and will work with the autel scope. I'd need to know what your settings are on your clamp. Example if the clamp says 10mV/100mA this means that means that 100mV equals 1A/1000mA. Some clamps use 1mV/1A in this case if you see 10mV on the screen you are actually measuring 10Amps. Let me know your available setting on your Pico amp probe if they above doesn't make sense.
@jche45032 жыл бұрын
I found out that if i use hantek cc650 and cc65 i dont have to adjust settings to get good waveform. Its actually worth it to use the pico clamps for it gives more clean waveform. Thanx for the input. I played around with it and can get a good waveform.

Nicely Done! Very Nicely Done!!!I have the MP408, how did you get the horizontal cursors to read degrees!?@?# I didnt know that was possible. The documentation, all 3 pages of it, just says things like, "This sets the voltage scale, "Use the trigger", no detail other than names for a button. For cursors it just says "Use the cursors to measure" No explanation on how to even get the cursor on the screen, much less how to change it from time to degree, no explanation of the menu that had "rulers" you showed. I was a Hardware Engineer for 40 years in Silicon Valley, used 400,000$ scopes with ease. The MP408 is a nightmare, it works nothing like real scopes or at least very little, near zero documentation, sorry I ever wasted my money on it. Should have just anti-upped for the Pico. Anyway how the cursors came up to degrees Id love to know. Thank you for the demo!!!!

Autel is a good brand, but I know you can find cheaper tools to do the same job. I've seen technicians on KZbin using off brand bi directional scanners that have most of the functions you find in Autel scanners, but for less money. Just wondering what scope offers the most bang for the buck.

I love autel scanners, are there others.... of course, does one size fit all? Nope. At a shop they must have a minimum of 2 different brand scan tools, because some work great on certain makes and others don't and sometime its just the car that won't give info. For scope, my go to is the micsig 1104 masterautomotivetraining.com/products/micsig-4-channel-oscilloscope-ato1104?_pos=1&_sid=f7ad62bb0&_ss=r has the same power as my pico 4425 but in a tablet.
