As a DM, thank you for giving me the perfect soundtrack to end an entire world. For context, my players were in a cosmic horror style campaign, and Halloween night had come around. Unbeknownst to them, I had been seeding hints that the world was about to end. Several times in the game I had moments where completely unreal shit would happen and then just... Stop. One of the players is a Psion, and I had him approached by the local madman, who warned that the end was fast approaching. A Cold-War Era AI woke up and tried to force people into the bunker that it oversaw, in an attempt to try and save humanity from what it predicted to be an unavoidable apocalypse. And then the last session. I started with this album, then led into the other two Keygen Church albums as I let them try anything that they could to try and Save the world. It was all for naught, as the spirits of every person whom had died for centuries but we're unable to pass on rose, drawing the corpses of millions into the moonlit sky to form gigantic humanoid masses of flesh, blood, and bone. The displacement of the dead tore vast swathes from the earth, things from the Unreal spilled forth into the world, and the night sky cracked and splintered. Once they were large enough, the forms reached into the sky and pulled it asunder, shattering reality. A good end.

So I'd be curious what kind of epic story is playing out in your heads while you listen to this? For me its like something out of Dark Souls. The story is of the rising of a great evil the spreads across the land, enslaving the people and ravaging the landscape. A great hero and his friend, a lowly mage, rise to fight back the scourge. A long scene plays out where he inspires his fellow peasants to fight with him. There is an intense battle where our hero nearly kills the great evil, but they are ultimately overwhelmed and destroyed. Once the heronis slain a great slaughter occurs and the rebellion is quelled. The mage is the only survivor. Badly wounded, she retreats and lives on hiding for the next couple decades, slowly amassing power. Meanwhile, the great evil continues to wreak havok. The world becomes a dark and vicious, and so must the mage if she is to survive in this new world. Eventually she becomes a great dark sorceress herself and an insane battle ensues between the two powerful entities. Smallfolk from both sides are randomly obliterated in the crossfire. The great sorceress mind is lost, she lives now only for revenge. With a final decisive blow, she triumphs. But there is little left of the world. She is a ruler of ashes, as we slowly zoom out over the ruins of a once lush world.
