The thing about Asian steorotype in masterrchef Canada is, i felt like they think the whole Asia is Chinese Southeast Asia got another different level of breakfast, congee are just a poor man/ lazy dishes

That's an issue mate. If you ask a trained chef to make a random dish from Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, Nepal or Malaysia - they would all lose. 😂 I'm a pretty well versed cook but I couldn't make Nasi goreng, tosilog, Bánh Xéo perfectly within 60 minutes. Even chefs from Michelin stars restaurants would fail to make these to high end chefs back in host country. I've had all these meals and it's delicious. I would be so slow at making perfect French Crepes and the chili paste for Nasi goreng.
